Pounding out a unique blend of locally inspired and New York City-influenced hardcore since 2008,
BORN LOW’s descent upon the modern hardcore scene over the past six years could only be described as
a bitter, vigorous assault. Forged in Albany, New York, a city known for raw and boring winters, a shared
sense of urgency saw the five members craft a vehicle for themselves to escape the struggles and pressures
of everyday working class life. 2009 marked the first release by the band, an eight-song CDEP Reincarnage,
also the band’s first collaboration with Reaper Records. The push behind the EP found the band as a growing
presence in the greater Northeastern US, as word spread quickly of their gripping live shows marked by tight
musicianship and unwavering attitude and aggression.
Touring was imminent, as BORN LOW found themselves in extensive demand, reaching all corners of the
continental US. To follow their first effort, the band embarked on a new project with their next record, The
Hunger Within 7”. Guitarist Joe Cammarere launched a new label, Bad Ground Records, with The Hunger
Within as its inaugural release. With promotional and artistic contributions from members and friends of the
band, the result was a communal DIY experience that energized the band as they continued to play short
tours and fests across the country. Their upcoming release Refuse To Beg marks a reunion between Reaper
and BORN LOW, as the band continues to refine their campaign of aggression, attitude, and authenticity in
an ever-changing hardcore scene. BORN LOW shows no signs of wavering, and their plans aim to serve the
hardcore scene with great resilience and strength in the years to come.
