Amidst a ferocious tour schedule since their acclaimed
2012 release Freak Out!, TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET
have somehow still found time to pen and record a few new
songs. Instead of resting on a day off during a recent tour
with The Queers, the guys dropped into the Blasting Room
(Rise Against, NOFX, Descendents) to record the American
Deutsch Bag 7”. The first track, “Ich bin Ausländer” is a
mid-tempo pop-punk gem that shows off some classic TBR
harmonies, along with some questionable high school
German that Ray (singer) has managed to retain. The
second song is a balls out, Descendents-esque jam about the
band’s proclivity for, uh, well… smoking pot. The b-side is
rounded out by TBR’s pogo punk take on Tony Sly’s “Via
Munich”, which will also be included on the highly
anticipated Tony Sly tribute album The Songs of Tony Sly.
American Deutsch Bag has it all; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry,
you’ll wanna get high.
