Anchored in the city of roses and rain, The Coterie kick started their career in early 2006 when members of a few of Portland’s most-remembered punk bands (Spare Lead, Dayton, Know It All, Last Day To Live), pooled together to form this solid, high-energy five-piece assembly. After only six months of being a band, they had multiple high profile shows under their belt and were quickly gaining the attention of hardcore fans everywhere. In July 2006, they signed with New School Records and headed into the studio and recorded their new record. Now, with the album completed, the band has began booking tours and will be out on the road all summer long to support their new masterpiece.
Aesthete, running just under 50 minutes in length, leaves listeners with exactly enough time to catch their breath between the breakneck-tempos, zealous guitar-riffing and passionate lyrics. Using unique musical compositions strung together with melody, The Coterie delivers a sound that is both, singular and definitive, as well as urgent and ambitious. With just one listen, you will agree that this debut album has all the ingredients for success and longevity. This record is a must for fans of Underoath, Killswitch Engage and Atreyu.
