This album is alright. Better than New Wave, but Against Me! is no longer the same band. This album lacks the energy you saw on everything from Vivida Vis up to Searching For a Former Clarity. It's a straight alternative rock album. Only "Rapid Decompression" pays tribute to their old org-core sound. Although "Teenage Anarchist" and "Because of the Shame" are damn catchy. Pretty disappointed in George's drumming as well. I love his stuff with Hot Water Music, but he does not fill Warren Oakes' shoes at all on this record. Also, not enough James Bowman back ups. On the up side, all the songs are at least bearable. Some of the lyrics are cool, dig the artwork and the red vinyl, and like I said before its catchy as hell. Not a great record, but not horrible. I listen to it at work frequently. If it had more energy it would be pretty good.
Would have given it three stars, but Tom Gabel was a baby about its review on Punk News.

Low energy, boring, and awful. It's one of those albums I'll listen to once or twice and I'll be done with it. I have enjoyed most of their music prior to this album and yes I even liked most of New Wave, but White Crosses is a great disappointment. Two stars instead of one because subject matter of the songs still meaningful and honest as usual.

Disappointing. What happened? Thought I was buying a breaking edge new album from Against Me! not a The Killers sh*t show...just low. Low energy, didn't grab me. Heed the warnings, stick with the earlier stuff. "Crime" was a great sound, one that this album gives little credit to. "Bob Dylan Dream" was the only song that mad me keep this album.
Florida is for retirement, and "White Crosses" puts Against Me! in the same place as millions of elderly citizens.
