Bullet Treatment
Designated Vol. 1
(Anti-Flag, Swingin Utters, Good Riddance, Only Crime, Rise Against, Leftover Crack)
Fat Wreck Chords 232
Released on April 14, 2009
|
The brainchild of musician/guitarist Chuck Dietrich, Bullet Treatment is an unconventional hardcore act that functions as a revolving door of punk stalwarts. Each release features different musicians from a wide range of bands coming together to write, record and occasionally perform powerful, driving, classically-inspired punk rock. This time around, Bullet Treatment features contributions from Chris #2 of Anti-Flag, Johnny of Swingin' Utters, Russ of Only Crime and Good Riddance, Tim of Rise Against, Thomas of Strike Anywhere and Sturg of Star Fucking Hipsters and Leftover Crack.

The idea behind this is simple. Lay down one instrumental track and let 6 different vocalists sing on it. I loved the idea and there are some great singers on here. Everything has a bit of the old hardcore sound to it, although The Wreckage sticks out high above the others. Tim's singing this like he used to sing on TU/RPM. However, the other songs are great as well. Only minus is that due to the instrumental track being used 6 times, you can get a bit fed up with the instrumental part of the songs. The idea however, is still amazing.

Never been into Bullet Treatment before, but I'm a fan of 5/6 of the vocalist on this (minus Johnny of Swingin' Utters / Druglords Of The Avenues... it's not that I think they suck, I'm really just not that into them). This is more of a very-occasional listen, at least if you go through all six songs in one setting. The music is all the same, but the vocalist and lyrics are different for every track. My favorite is by #2 of Anti-Flag, followed by Tim of Rise Against. If you like at least 3 of the bands that these vocalist are from, pick this up... of if you just like Bullet Treatment, I guess.
