Thanks to the initial single,
“Longview,” Dookie became a major hit. The album
continued to gain momentum throughout the summer,
with the second single, “Basket Case,” spending five
weeks on the top of the American modern rock charts.
At the end of the summer, the band stole the show at
Woodstock ’94, which boosted the sales of Dookie. By the
time the fourth single, “When I Come Around,” began
its seven-week stay at number one on the modern-rock
charts in early 1995, Dookie had sold over five million
copies in the U.S. alone; it would eventually top eight
million in America, selling over ten million copies internationally
(the coveted Diamond Award). Dookie also
won the 1994 Grammy for Best Alternative Music
Performance. NOTE: THIS RELEASE NO LONGER COMES WITH A BONUS CD.

Green Day saved my life! JK. I bought 39/Smooth, Kerplunk, Dookie, and Insomniac over a decade ago, and now again this year. They aren't the same band now, but back in the day, they helped me find my ultimate passion: music. I actually bought these albums just to put on my wall and not open, but I'm wondering what the 7"s look like...

Honestly, I only bought this for the memories. The first purchase I ever made on my own was a copy of Dookie on cassette in the 8th grade. That's not to say it's not one of their better albums, but it'd be pretty hard to be worse than Warning, you know?

LP sounds great if you don't mind getting raped by Reprise and dropping $20.00 on a mass produced black vinyl, definitely pick it up.
