Ever since Cursive burst onto the music scene with their 1997 debut album, the band has consistently
and continually churned out heady albums heralded by critics and fans alike. Wrestling with life’s
miseries and mysteries, Mama, I’m Swollen is an album brimming with the universal, questioning the
human condition, social morality, and the “Peter Pan Syndrome” of grown men.

Whether it was intended that way or not (and frankly, I don't care to find out for certain) Mama, I'm Swollen is the perfect companion to Cursive's previous offering Happy Hollow. Do you enjoy drinking whiskey in dark rooms alone and wondering where it all went wrong? Do you enjoy scribbling impassioned missives on bathroom walls? Do you enjoy pina colladas and getting caught in the rain? Only two of those things are applicable to this album. I'll let you decide which two.
