This EP was alright. Its the loved ones so I love it, it's just a little short and I already had a couple of the songs. I recommend buying Keep Your Heart or Build and Burn. I've had them both for well over a year and still listen to them both all the time. They are just a great f*ckin' band.

Oh look, a Loved Ones EP. How novel. More of the same from these guys. It could be classified as "good, but unremarkable". Well, if someone was classifying stuff and Distractions made it's way into the stack of things being classified. If you like the Loved Ones, you'll like this.

the loved ones are great. this is just a short teaser leading to an eventual full-length, and it delivers both 3 great originals, as well as 3 covers by the likes of springsteen, billy bragg, and joe strummer. distracted starts things off and is the most fast-paced song of the ep, followed by last call, another faster song, both with musical accompaniment by franz nicholay of the hold steady. spy diddley, while good, sort of left me wanting something more. the springsteen cover is alright, but i am not a fan of the original either. the billy bragg tune is well interpreted by the band and is well done. i at first was apprehensive of the strummer cover, only because the original is dear to me. but dave hause and the boys did their best to not take away any of the majesty of the original. i loved the album, but am sad it wasn't a full-length.
