While there are some great songs on here, there are some moments that really take away from what this album could have been. Random Hearts is the worst song on the album. The rest of the songs are good except for the bloody synthing drum stuff he felt the need to ruin the songs with. The songs still manage to be OK, but could have been so much better if he would have stuck to mainly just the guitar or got a real drummer.
Harsh Realms and Anna Is A Stool Pigeon are the best songs. It's worth the money if you like Tom.

Let's be honest kids, this is an album pretty much for Against Me! fanboys, audiophiles, or teenage girls convinced that Tom Gabel will one day have their babies. Well, as soon as he answers their Myspace comments. And that day is coming damnit! But I digress, this album is pretty amazing for what it is: A continuation of Tom's musical evolution. Or rather, it sounds exactly like New Wave, but with a drum machine instead of the inimitable Warren. It won't change your world, but it will probably make you view it differently.

The acoustic versions that Tom Gabel performed live that there are videos of on YouTube are better. This sounds better than New Wave, but worse than all other Against Me! albums. It starts off sounding like an extremely corny 80s dance album and could only get better from that, but still never gets great.

Being a relative newbie to Against Me! I did not listen to this c.d. with much preconceived notion of what to expect. After many listens I've got to say that this e.p. has grown on me after the intial indiffirence I felt about it. I'd say that I like most of the songs on here, especially "Conceptual Paths" and "Anna Is A Stool Pigeon",but if I'm being honest this c.d. is not very "acoustic" and though the songs are better than what many other artists have to offer they pale in comparison to Against Me!. Buyer Beware.

I really enjoy this one. Much less New Wave, and much more Acoustic/Disco Before... This is the style that I really wanted Against Me!'s new stuff to take, too bad that didn't happen. At least Tom came through with this. If you're into the old Against Me! style, you'll love this.

I was kinda expecting a more acoustic, early Against Me sounding effort here. Yeah...it's not that. It isn't horrible but it isn't that good either. It is more of a "Meh..." kinda album. Well at least it will make him money. And anybody who rates this a five star release needs to have their head examined. Tom, get back to work and come out with something worth spending money on. And yeah, the cheap-o paper case sucks total ass. Because of that alone I want to rate the CD lower. But I will stick with judging the album and not the shitty packaging.

I was hoping for a return to Tom's past of raspy vocals, gritty acoustic guitar and screaming. But this isnt really what I got at all. Tom Gabel is a genius, I just wish he would have added a bit of that old grit we all loved Against Me! for. This release was good, just not what i was hopeing for. Its something new and original, with some synth drum beats and some of Toms more refined singing. One track features Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio, and another with Butch Vig, the producer on drums. Of course it's political, with more anti-war songs, which is something you would excpect from Tom. At first listen I wasnt overly impressed, but it's grown on me alot lately.

Im a huge against me fan.. and old enough not to care if a band i like goes to a major record. I'd rather have money than not myself. However Butch Vig is killing this band! New wave has great songs that play great live and this cd is full of great songs, but the over production and drum machines are horrible.Against me is such a great band its almost comical they can't see how craping this label is making them sound. Just look at the thrash unreal video.. it looks like a cheap version of the "round and round" video by Ratt. Tom find a major record label that will pay you well, but not make you look like a clown!

I bought this CD under the impression that it was going to be an acoustic solo record by Tom Gabel. I saw "Anna is a Fucking Stool Pigeon" played on acoustic and just assumed that's the way the songs would be.
There's a lot of drum machines and stuff on this record and in my opinion it just didn't fit that well with the songs. I think this could have been a good record if Tom wasn't trying to be a musical "artist" and use all the unnecessary electronic noises. But still it just doesn't compare to old Against Me!
I like some music with electronic and synth sounds.. but it just doesn't work with Tom Gabel.

I'm only giving this song 3 stars because i've heard these songs acoustic and they sound better that way, and because although i don't see it happening, i have hope that Tom will eventually realize he doesn't need Sire or Butch Vig or drum machines to make good music. A lot of these songs straight up suck, like "Random Hearts", which in my opinion is the worst song. To qutoe Tom himself "We want a band who plays loud and hard every night and doesn't care how many people were counted at the door". What happend to that guy?
