Bristle Ridge

(Hot Water Music)

Ten Four 3

Released on August 26, 2008

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Digipack CD with an 8-panel fold out. The songs consist of 3 Chuck Ragan originals, 3 Austin Lucas originals, 3 Ragan/Lucas originals, 1 original by Bob Lucas, and 2 old time standards. Chuck Ragan puts it this way, "The record has a very strong sense of bluegrass, folk and old time gospel, with a certain feel of exactly where we were and what was going on when we laid it down, which was a group of strangers coming together to enjoy good food and music up in the hills on the highest point of Ohio for a week, and leaving as friends by the end."

Great fuckin' alt-country CD. I'd never heard of Austin Lucas before, but his voice is pretty good. Chuck is awesome, as usual. Get it!

I have seen this CD advertised all over the place. This is my first introduction to Austin Lucas. I like both of these artists a lot, but none of the songs on here...really grab me. I listen to this (Sometimes) on the way to work in the morning when my tender ears are not ready for blaring punk rock. Check out both of these guys new releases. I honestly believe they have both put out better work than this.

I decided to pick this one up for 2 reasons, firstly Chuck Ragan is one of my favourite singers, and secondly the first review posted on this very site. This is now one of my all time favourite albums and I keep finding myself subconciously singing along to it at the top of my lungs. True story! After hearing Austin Lucas on this, I am definently a fan for life now, with both Chuck and himself putting in stellar performances. I agree whole heartedly with the initial reviewer and highly recommended it too anyone with even just the slightest bit of interest in this release.

This is one of my favorite albums ever! I played this CD constantly in my truck, at home and at work for over a month and never got tired of it! It has a heavy county flair and is high on the emotions. Austin Lucas has a beautiful tenor voice and heartfelt song writing that paints wonderful pictures in your mind as you listen. Chuck Ragan delivers an even more dynamic performance than his previous effort, and that is saying a lot! A very well rounded album that goes from country to bluegrass to gospel. I cannot recommend this album enough to anybody with a penchant for country or alt-country. Every song is an absolute classic.
