DAVEY HAVOK/JADE PUGET: TWO BOYS IN LOVE WITH SYNTHESISERS & SOFTWARE The electronic side project of AFI's Davey Havok and Jade Puget, debuts with CexCells. Recorded by the band in between AFI's extensive touring for DECEMBERUNDERGROUD and mixed by Dave Bascombe (Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Placebo), CexCells expands upon and fully indulges the dark electronic textures and influences increasingly prevalent in AFI's later work. The results range from evocation of prima era Depeche Mode and early Ministry ("Stiff Kittens," "Bitter for Sweet," "Where Would You Like Them Left?") to four on the floor club-friendly fare ("On a Friday," "Snuff on Digital") to vulnerable balladry ("Wake Up," "The Fear"). The common thread running through all of BLAQK AUDIO's material-Havok's signature dark vocal and lyrical stylings combined with Puget's epic, emotional arrangements -will be instantly identifiable to AFI fans, despite the synthetic washes, keyboard flourishes and electronic beats supplanting the traditional guitar /bass/drum AFI frame work.

Pretty techno for me, although there are three tracks that I really enjoy, especially the last one. Very good lyrics.

I give it a three.

This CD is incredible; it has all the alluring lyrics and haunting vocals of AFI, just presented in a more upbeat, dancable way. Davey and Jade did an amazing job on this, as always, and I can't wait to hear what they do next. I would fully recommend this album to anyone, especially if you're a fan of AFI.

Although this album may sound quite different from anything AFI has to offer, truly dedicated fans will recognize the same passionate, emotional messages voiced by Davey within these thirteen tracks. It is an electronic album, and i believe it ranks with the best of them. But unlike much of the other electronic music offered today which seems to have lost the boundary between electronic and techno, these guys have stayed true to the genre. Don't buy this album if you want something to play in a nightclub, while everyone would probably enjoy it, they would probably miss the true value of these songs. A piece of artwork this superb demands to be respected, and i suggest playing it in a secluded area as loud as possible for it to be truly appreciated. Believe me, once you start listening, you won't want to stop.

Well this IS a great cd. A must own for any fan of AFI or electronica music. Every track was pretty damn sweet and I believe that this cd was money VERY well spent, indeed. If you love AFI. BUY THIS CD!

This album was absolutely amazing! It gives any electronica lover a little bit of everythimg. It has more upbeat tracks such as: Again, again, and again, and Semiotic Love. Ten you have your slower electronic balads: Wake Up, Open the Door, and Escape to the Sea, and On a Friday. I would strongly reccomend this album to any electronic music fan. It a LOT different than what you would expect from AFI, but it's still amazing nevertheless. You can really see the amount of work and passion that went into this record, and that means a lot. What are you still doing reading my review; go buy the album!

Killer album. Definitely different than AFI, though I was somewhat concerned that in a few songs, Blaqk Audio seemed to sound too much like Depeche Mode and though the music was different, the lyrics were all written in similar AFI lyric style in my opinion. All in all, however, this a good album, and an excellent buy! I definitely recommend it!

This is a terrific album. I was suprised by how good it was. I was expecting a VNV Nation knock off, but what we have here is just as good as anything on Metropolis records. Sometimes dark, sometimes synth pop, but altogether a good and fun album. If you like this one you should look up Assemblage 23.
