Rock Against Bush Vol. 2

Fat Wreck Chords 677

Released on August 10, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

With a flood of interest from both fans and the music community, one volume of Rock Against Bush was clearly not enough. We had the bright idea to put out a second volume entitled…Rock Against Bush Vol II! As was the case with the first edition, the purpose of this compilation is to raise awareness of and their efforts to expose the evils of the Bush administration. The bands on this comp have come together with Punk Voter for one reason, to express their outrage-at and form a unified front against—the dangerous, destructive, and deadly policies of George W. Bush and his administration. Rock Against Bush Vol I debuted at #53 on the Billboard top 200. If that wasn’t enough, Vol I was #1 on the Billboard indie chart as well! Not only has Rock Against Bush Vol I been a success with the kids it has also garnered major press including interviews with Fat Mike on Howard Stern, Dennis Miller Live, CNN Inside Politics, and ABC World News, just to name a few. From No Doubt and Green Day to The Sleater-Kinney and The Lawrence Arms, Rock Against Bush Vol II is packed full of unreleased and rare tracks! The DVD on Vol I proved to be a true eye opener so we will include a DVD with Vol II as well. The DVD will feature trailers from political films, political comedy pieces from Will Ferrell, Greg Proops and Patton Oswalt, and music videos. Rock Against Bush Vol II is staged to be an instant success, and will further enlighten the masses!

This is the second CD of two in the Rock Against Bush series. Its a really well put together compilation with lots of familiar bands as well as plenty of new bands with unreleased songs. There are bands with songs that have been re-released from older records such as Rancid, Operation Ivy, and Flogging Molly, as well as songs from more recent records such as the Unseen, Only Crime, and Bad Religion. There is a DVD included with this CD and its very long and really interesting and informative. Stocked with really good music videos and humor from Will Ferrell, as well as six political shorts that are very intersting.

I think what many people are missing about this unique compilation is that not all of the bands included normally write political music, such as Yellowcard (who does a job-well done on covering Violins by Lagwagon), Autopilot Off and Sugarcult for instance. But, they obviously share views on the government with the other bands, some of which are more political (Thought Riot, The Unseen.) I think the point is that this compilation is displaying a very true message about punk rock that is sometimes hard to see with some of today's bands and mass media pollution. UNITY. Everyone on this compilation felt the same way about something and did something about it. That's what its all about. So whether your into Sleater-Kinney or Sick of It All, this comp has something for you.

You also get a free Rock Against Bush Volume 2 sticker.

This is a lot of great music, and lots of great information that I would not have found otherwise for a ridiculously low price. Even though the election is over, this is still totally worth buying. Its gives great insight on some 'behind the scenes' governmental issues.

Fat Wreck Chords does it again! Pick this up!

This is an alright compilation. Some great bands, some good bands, and some downright shitty bands. The Green Day song is good, along with the Lawrence Arms, D4, Unseen, and of course the Operation Ivy song. It has some good extras. It's probably a little late to just buy it for the cause, but if you like the bands then go for it.

After the first rock against bush cd came out I was pretty stoked for this one. Overall it was a letdown. Not as many good bands, not as many good songs. Bush still blows major cock and his war in Iraq will probably get this country nuked. Congress should worry about impeaching him rather than fucking steroids. ok yeah so get rock against bush vol. one instead.

Bad ass CD! Seriously, after RPM i was expecting alot from these guys and i do believe that they delivered. This album is defeinetly not even close to RPM but im not sure if i can determine which is better. The first track is basicly a metal song but i actually enjoy it. After that it is classic Rise Agaisnt smooth, melodic hardcore with a nice easy acoustic song thrown in for good measure. (#11). Ya it's fro sure classic Rise Agaisnt but its not like anyting that tthey have done before. Great dics. Gets a 4.9 on my scale.

overall this is a good comp. not all of the bands had a good song, but the good songs totally make up for it. i would give this cd a 4, but since its against bu$h, it gets a 5. buy this cd and support a good cause!

Lets clear things up first... ...I HATE both parties equaly. The Democrates nor the Republicans could give a flying fuck about you or me. I voted for Kerry just becuase he was the best of the worst. With that aside, this CD is realy good. I mean what else could you ask for, you got The Lawrence Arms, D4, Jawbreaker, Bouncing Souls, and The Dwarves. I was also plesantly suprised by the Foo Fighters and Green Day tracks. The only downside to it (except for Yellowcard and all the other shitty bands) was the already released stuff from Bad Religion and Rancid. McCain/Edwards in 2008 that would'nt be to bad but still not great.
