I decided to check this out after a trusted friend's suggestion. I, like many, had heard a lot about these guys and their explosion into the mainstream, so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself in to. I consider myself to be a straight-forward punk fan, and this record is not that, but I actually enjoy it. In fact, the more I listen, the more I like it, and I often find myself singing the choruses. This band doesn't completely do it for me, but it's a sufficient alternative. Overall, pretty good.

Ok- so you know those couple great songs on a record that you keep playing over and over till you wear it out? Well this cd didn't have those, cuz EVERY song on this record is AMAZING! I have to admit its very rare to enjoy every song on a record but I did. A great buy, you won't be disappointed, wish i'd discovered them sooner. Glad I bought this.

I don’t know where to start. The songs on this album are loaded with the same energy and honest emotion that made me fall in love with Against Me!. The first time I listened to this record I knew right away that these guys would become one of my favourite bands. The rock and roll influences makes these songs come alive and you can really hear that they enjoy playing together. It's fun, catchy and emotionally capturing at the same time.
Gaslight Anthem is more rock and roll with a punk rock attitude rather than the other way around. They are not afraid to salute their idols; The Clash ("I'da Called You Woody, Joe"), Bob Dylan ("Angry Johnny And The Radio") among others. The mix between banging anthems and slow ballads is perfect. The album starts off fast with the catchy "Boomboxes and Dictionaries" and ends with the song "Red At Night", featuring harmonica and acoustic guitar, which makes a perfect album closer.
For any fan of energetic, heartfelt rock and roll music. If you like this, also checkout The Riot Before.

One of my favorite albums to come out this year. These guys just rock. The songs all have great energy, great vocals, and are chalk full of hooks. These guys are the punk rock Bruce Springsteen and the E street Band. This is the kind of band you always hope will be playing down the street at the local bar, but never is. This is blue collar rock n roll at its best - romantic, painful, energetic, optimistic, and real.

This is really so good. I think this is what Bruce Springsteen would have sounded like if he were born in the 80's. I saw them live with about 20 people watching, and they made the local bands look like clown shoes.

A near flawless first ablum from a band I'm sure a lot of people are going to overlook. Every song is well-crafted. They sound a lot like a hard-working, blue collar version of Lucero with much better songs and a lot more punk influences. Great, great cd to drive to.
