Seven full length albums into the game, STRUNG OUT still has something to show the scene they so feverishly helped build. On their latest work, Blackhawks Over Los Angeles, they once again collaborate with producer Matt Hyde (of Slayer and No Doubt production fame) to create what is truly the band’s finest work to date. While STRUNG OUT wrote and recorded Exile In Oblivion, their first project with Hyde, the band’s sound and direction hit a turning point. Developing a more focused and driven approach to their song writing, the band quickly captured the positive attention of critics, in addition to receiving accolades from both old and new fans around the globe. On Blackhawks Over Los Angeles STRUNG OUT effortlessly perfect the melding of technical musicianship (rooted in metal) within a melodious structure. Since the release of their last album STRUNG OUT have been no strangers to the road, headlining the 2005 Van’s Warp Tour, followed by tours of New Zealand, Australia and South America. STRUNG OUT has never been a band that succumbs to the trends of the moment. They have always forged an original sound and with Matt Hyde at the helm, Blackhawks proves to be the band’s most impressive and passionate album. STRUNG OUT remain as a pillar of the Fat Wreck Chords family, with catalog sales surpassing 500,000 units. While sustaining their heavy melodic approach and commitment to their loyal fanbase, STRUNG OUT is prepared to show the world the fabric of their staying power.

a little on the softer side, but by far some of the best guitar work they've cranked out yet for sure. Can't hate on anything these guys have done yet, always progressing.

Strung Out still knows how to get it done! Jordan Burns has to be one the most solid drummers in any band, how he fits his fills is unbelievable. I hope the best for this band for the future. This CD just proves that they wont be going anywhere anytime soon. If you like Strung Out and don't have this cd you are cheating yourself!

not their strongest effort, not on the same level as " suburban teenage wasteland blues", or " an american paradox", their two best pieces of work. but i would buy it if your a loyal listener of the greatest rock group of all time.

It's Strung Out, and Strung Out is one of those bands that can not really release a bad CD. That said, this is slightly slower and just a little more formulaic than any of their other CDs. Don't get me wrong, most of the songs are really very good and they still flow pretty well. The only reason I would not give this a 5 is because of the song Dirty Little Secret. That song is poppy, totally uncharacteristic of Strung Out, and downright unbearable to listen to. That abomination is enough to take an entire star away as far as I'm concerned. To sum up, buy the CD and always, ALWAYS skip track 8.
