Rum, Sodomy And The Lash (180 Gram Vinyl)

Rhino 74157

Released on November 7, 2006

Fronted by the poetic spirit and raging, often besotted stage antics of lead singer-songwriter Shane MacGowan, The Pogues made unforgettable music that terms such as "Celtic punk", "trad-fusion", or "progressive-folk" only begin to describe. This is their brilliant second LP, produced by Elvis Costello. Highlights include "The Sick Bed Of Cuchulainn", "I'm A Man You Don't Meet Every Day", "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda", and "A Pair Of Brown Eyes". Pressed on 180-gram vinyl and featuring all original packaging.

The classic Pogues album produced by Elvis Costello. If you watch the DVD documentary about Shane MacGowan, it's funny to hear him describe how many times Elvis Costello made him re-track vocals. I think it shows on here too. Great album with some classic-must have Pogues tunes. Beautfiul artwork as well doesn't hurt.
