Brother, Sister

Tooth & Nail 60429

Released on September 26, 2006

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

If you've had a chance to catch mewithoutYou on any one of their hundreds of tour dates since the release of their sophomore album, "Catch For Us the Foxes" you've no doubt recognized their live show as one of the most energetic, destructive and exhausting of nearly any band in the scene today, complete with a flailing lead singer, crushed floral blossoms strewn about the stage, and some of the most innovative artistry to be shown to a typically unchallenged audience. With the brilliance of producer Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Pete Yorn) to challenge their sound even further, mewithoutYou's third release, "Brother, Sister" creates something stirring, something deep and urgent, while still keeping all the passion that generates mewithoutYou's magnificence.

MeWithoutYou are a intellectual, somewhat art/jam-rock band, with a heavy christian influence. The nice thing is they are not overly preachy however. This album, though (owning all of them), seems to be the most preachy of them all.

If you are a first time man, id get catch for us the foxes, or a>b life.

Or download the song "gentleman" off a>b life and see what you think

I preordered this cd when I knew it was coming out, and I'm glad I did. It's just amazing, and I've been listening to all the time. This album is a huge step up in the experimental side of things, but it still has everything you loved before. I'd recommend it to everyone, because my friends that weren't even into this kind of music love this cd, so go get it.

What an amazing record. Its such a logical progression from "Catch for Us The Foxes". They expanded greatly upon what they were trying to do with that record and added much more instrumentation and lots of varied textures; I really cant stop listening to this. Seriously...when was the last time a band (with the exception of probably the arcade fire or neutral milk hotel) utilized the flugelhorn? anyway..really really great record, i definitely recommend it if you were a fan of "Catch for Us The Foxes"..and if you're only hip to the sound of "A-->B: Life" then I suggest you open your mind and ears a bit.
