Elliott

Photorecording

Revelation 131

Released on October 4, 2005

$8.50

ELLIOTT's finale comes at first with a feeling of loss, the depth and meaning that so many associated with this band is immeasurable. But Photorecording comes swooping in with the uplifting feeling of celebration, more of a fond farewell than a bad breakup. The legacy left behind by Louisville's most beloved is one that will prevail, and this release closes the door with an intimate look into the final hours of the band.

Photorecording serves as not only a live studio album recorded directly after their last performance, but also as a never before seen DVD documentary of their last tour. The 2 disc set compiles the aforementioned recording and documentary as well as bonus footage of live shows during the last two years of ELLIOTT's existence. Anyone who is familiar with the band will tell you that the live show is the true beauty behind ELLIOTT, garnering them a spot amongst the most revered live acts of this generation. The shows not only complemented their prolific recordings, but also enriched the experience for even the most casual fans of ELLIOTT – to miss their live show would be considered a crime.

Photorecording is a monument to this great band that still has fans yearning for their next projects.

I really enjoy this album. If you're familiar with any previous Elliott work, particularly 'False Cathedrals' and 'Song In The Air', you should definitely check this album out. It's awesome all the way through. Not one bad song is on here. The DVD that comes with it is a nice treat.

Elliott's farewell live studio album is much much more stripped down and minimalist than their previous stuff, but is totally amazing nonetheless. I agree with the dvd when they say elliott could have been the next radiohead or coldplay, but on the other hand that wouldn't be as exciting if everybody else and their dog listened to elliott. Even though there aren't any new songs, they are all totally different live versions or remixes (the remix of drive on to me is amazing!

Being a huge fan of elliott, I can't say that this satisfies completely the live experience of who elliott is. As much as I wanted it to be enough, their live experience cannot be recreated unless you see them. I was blessed and honored to see them and nonetheless, the cd is fabulous. It's more of like a remix of their songs than anything else, but still awesome. for a live cd it sounds pretty amazing and the dvd is alright, but it has some great songs. I give it a five anyways because it's elliott and they have gone so far and I wish them best of luck in future endeavors, wherever they may be in. RIP guys.. you have changed me.
