Between the Buried and Me

Alaska (with Bonus DVD)

Since North Carolina’s BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME first welcomed listeners into their musically innovative and imaginative minds with 2002’s self titled EP and 2003’s The Silent Circus, they have not stopped once in their quest to chaotically rule the world, one bizarre chord progression after another. Now, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME are inviting their legions of fans to journey with them into uncharted territory and unbroken ground with their provoking new album, Alaska. Given the band’s rock solid sales history and reputation as the most innovative band in metalcore yet, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME are ready to claim Alaska in the name of musical genius. With lyrics that peer deep into the mind of visionary guitarist Paul Waggoner and front man Tommy Rogers, Alaska takes listeners on a journey that is beautiful while being disastrous and poignant while remaining punishing. BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME created a new sound and refreshingly unique vision in the subgenre that is metalcore. No one is safe from the joyful chaos of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME

The Beauty and the Breakdown. Really, the contrasts of this album is what makes it work so perfectly. That, in combination with the stellar instrumental work, ingenious songwriting and structuring, and eclecticism of the influences. Listening to a song like "The Primer" make a mockery of every kind of metal - from power to meloblack to -core - by just being awesome, it's a beautiful feeling.

These guys are nuts! The metal is so brutal and then at the most unexpected points they break into vastly different styles of music. Much better than "Silent Circus," which bored the hell out of me. "Alaska" is a really interesting (and ROCKING) album.

WHAO. After hearing the hype for this cd, I couldn't imagine it surpassing my expectations, or Silent Circus, for that matter. But what an idiot I am. The intensity, beauty, and technicallity of this cd just hits you hard. While listening to the music, there is just an over kill combination of 5 amazing things happen at once...It's just incredible. Each song on this cd couldn't be written better, not to mention the instrumentals are fantastic. Take the ender, "Laser Speed" for instance. Humerous at first, but obviously, genious. The lyrics also hit you with a powerful, and inspirational message at times. The use of keyboards overtop the metal glory is a great touch, and one big step up from Silent Circus. The whole entire cd, for that matter, is a huge step up from what we all thought was "unbeatable", but we failed to realize that this is Between The Buried And Me. The almighy, BTBAM, who will go down as one of the most innovating metal bands ever. I highly recommend you buy this cd.
