Picaresque is a coruscation of true INDIE art. These songs all are their own stories that interest the hell out of me. Colin Meloy is a genius with words but also just his knack at building suspense makes it a real "picaresqueing" album. now enough praise lets get to whatz in this thing.

The Infanta is a great opener. It feels like your at a parade in like a mob watching this royal highness look down on all of you.

We Both Go Down Together is a love song. or is it.. maybe more of a romantic bidding song.

Eli is just a good old-time tune and the best part is like when he's singing "down the day"

The Sporting Life is definetely a song that like gets revenge on any moment life that you just felt sick being in front of a crowd playing on some team. and the parents, coaches, and asshole teammates are just lecturing about something you did wrong. Yah, well this song is a shit eaten grin to all them. This song has truly helped me through times.

The Bagman's Gambit is like suspenseX10 because the whole spy genre really gets you going. i really dig the acoustic part in this song and thens massive instrumental chorus. "..and at the gates of the embassy" that part makes your balls tingle. just pure excitement and then it ends of soundly.

Lost at Sea is for when your like lonely. and you think your ways of communication are there for you but there not and you just get betrayed. sincere.

16 Mili Wifes is a standout on the album and its lyrics and concept rules

The Engine Driver you want to sing? just take this chorus and you got it made...

On the Bus Mall the best song on the whole record by far. one of the best songs i've heard. its not even awkward its just beautiful. "here in the alleys your spirits were rallied" inspiring.

Mariner's Revenger= the tale of all tales. Angels of Angles= its a personal song so you can define it your own way.

This review is definelty meant for someone who owns the records already and loves it because i dont want to like try and sell this because its something you have to find. thank you The Decemeberists this is a classic.
