Stripping the music down to himself, a microphone and an acoustic guitar, former Misfits frontman, Michale Graves, blew away audiences night after night. Capturing some of the magic of that tour is "Illusions Live 2008/Viretta Park." Graves strums through select tracks from his solo career and a few songs he wrote with The Misfits like "Fiend Club," "Shining," "Scream," and "Crying on Saturday Night."

buy this! i don't care how you felt about michael's vocal duties with the misfits or his political views, buy this. michael's voice is filled with amazing passion and force when he sings and the stripped down songs are incredible. just hearing the first few tracks knocked me back, and made me really give listen to everything, both lyrics and music. you can tell he is really enjoying himself. so many great songs, but top would be "blackbird", "fiend club", "gorch", "butchershop", "ophelia", "lucifer i am", "frostbite", "scream" and "crying on saturday night".

This album is outstanding. The acoustic guitar noise is fashionably primitive, backing up the strongest vocals Graves has ever crooned. These songs have been reworked and are very differant than the original versions, so it's not like your getting the same old vocal tracks, stripped of the electric guitar, bass and drums. He sings these songs with a passion, unheard in the originals. The sound quality is perfect, which is impressive because this is mostly a live album.
The Misfits songs are so good, I want him to give all of the "Ressurected Misfits" albums this treatment. There is a pleasant surprise in "Scream" when he blends in a few lines of "Weeds" by Life of Agony.
When I flip through my Ipod, intending to listen to one song off this album, I find myself listening to damn near the whole thing. It sucks you in!
I hope Graves puts out another one like this.

This is an outstanding cd. By far one of the finest pieces of music Michale has ever released.
Accustic verions of many classic songs will have you looking at them in new light. New songs such as "the best of me" and "locked away" really show how much Michale Graves has to offer as a musician.
Punk fan or not, Misfits fan or not, this is music a lot of people can really enjoy. Lets get the word out and show the world who Michale Graves is.

This is an acoustic, soft, and stripped down to the core Michale Graves. But don’t misunderstand if you look you can find the punk rock heart deep within several of these tunes, but before that you find so much more. Including a focus on Graves astoundingly robust, and clear vocals. Every time I hear him sing whether it is live or on a recording I am always stunned by the magical feeling that overcomes me.
With the exception of the legendary and late Joey Ramone I have yet to find a vocalist in any surrounding genre with such an aw inspiring gift.
Right when you think the enchantment can’t be enhanced anymore… JV Bastard hits the stage and illuminates things, with the chemistry he and Graves have while playing together.
The album is so peaceful, inspiring, and relaxing to listen to. It doesn’t matter what type of music you are into… hate or love the Misfits… you will certainly be impressed with this miraculous album. You will find yourself in a very special place while listening. I know I do.

what can i say? graves delivers once again! this amazing live acoustic album by the former Misfits/Graves/Gotham Road vocalist is nothing short of amazing, the track listing is awesome in summing up his career thus far. Michale never sees es to amaze me as he grows as an artist with each album. this is the album would make a great introduction to anyone unfamiliar to his solo work as he only plays 4 misfits songs in the set, his voice is clear and crisp, his guitar work is great (accompanied by JV Bastard of Gotham Road/Mister Monster/Michale Graves on a few songs of the album). as for the Viretta Park demos, they do not disappoint, 5 new demos and a re-recording of Blackbird, are just simply amazing, those 6 songs alone make this album a must own for anyone who loves the music of Graves or acoustic music in general. as for standout tracks? they are all stand out tracks! just an amazing recording, again a must have especially for Michale Graves fans!
