I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love

Eyeball 22

Released on August 20, 2002

Sorry, but this item is no longer available

The newest addition to the Eyeball Records family, My Chemical Romance stands up to their self-imposed challenge, bringing a unique, honest, and brutal sound to the scene. By the release of their self recorded Attic Demo, "Dreams About Stabbing and or Being Stabbed' MCR had created a buzz and delivered a live show so intense it far surpassed the hype building around them. Described when playing live like 'A swarm of vampire bats', their shows have the makings of an exorcism, cascading into a head-on collision of explosive drums, lacerating guitar riffs, machine gun bass lines, and dark melodic vocals. Killing off all the demons and non-believers with their tales of revenge, switchblade saints, magic bullets, anti-depressants, and the loneliness of the modern office space, the band finishes the set in an inspiring wreckage of human tragedy - if they don't happen to kill each other first.

I've given this cd a couple good months too sink in and i must say it is a very good release. Its got good guitar work, good vocals, and some really good drumming. I would definetly recommend this cd.

I didn't really know what to expect out of this band..i had only heard "This is the best day ever" when i bought it and i loved that song; it really demonstrates what MCR is capable of. They're kinda poppy but hardcore at the same time. The vocalist, Gerald, is really good and the instrumentals sound solid as well, especially for a small-label release. Definitely get this cd if you're into fast-paced, "dark" hardcore with a bit of pop mixed in.

Don't let your CD collection go without this one. Real great band. I missed their concert with finch and the used but I heard that they were awesome. BUY IT!!!!!

2/4/2003 by Roxanne from Castro Valley, CA Rating:
if youre a fan of thursday (geoff rickley produced this disc), finch or thrice you will definitely dig my chemical romance. mcr is in the same vein as those bands but still different and fresh. it will take you by surprise at times. the lyrics are very different and really cool. the singer has a unique voice that tends to really grow on you, and the songs themselves are awesome.

2/1/2003 by James from Spingvale, Vic, Australia Rating:
ok kids, here is my long cd review. Very nice introduction into this cd. The classical guitars set the mood as sort of dark, with a haunting aspect to the album. "Honey, this mirror isn't big enough for the two of us" is one of the best songs on the album, with a heavy repetitive intro riff and constant time changes, this song flows quite nicely. "Vampires will never hurt you" poosibly, the best song on the album, is catchy, emotive and nothing short of awesome. The next 2 songs "Drowning lessons" and "Our lady of sorrows" contain relatively dark lyrics and smooth gee-tar work. "headfirst for halos" is your typical "poppy-punk" anthem, but after a few listens becomes very catchy. "Skylines and Turnstyles" is yet another stand-out with killer vocals, this is fast, melodic post-core at it's best. "Early sunsets over monroeville" is a change of pace for the album, Emotive screaming kicking in at about the 4 minute mark, the lyrics are amazing. "This is the best day ever" kicks up the pace once again with a fast punk feel to the song with a ska-type breakdown. "Cubicles" has a different feel from the rest of the album, and has more of a rock sound. "Demolition lovers" starts off slow and really speeds up to a rad song, broken into two parts, it is also one of the highlights. This is an awesome album DEFINITELY worth the money. Even if you haven't heard of these guys fork out the cash and buy the album. Killer debut album, looking forward to some new stuff.

This CD is pretty good. it starts out very good but tends to drag towards the end. I saw them live on tour with Finch and the Used. Not as good as Finch but I like MCR better than Used.

1/14/2003 by Lisa from Allen, TX Rating:
yeah this is pretty good. all the comparisons of this band are way off. these guys may think they're vampires but they sound shit like planes mistaken for stars. they sound shit like thursday and they sound shit like ink and dagger. not only are all these bands worlds better, but in a physical fight would have their vampire asses kicked (with possible exception of thursday). some kids just hop on bandwagons. not a bad cd but definatly not all its cracked up to be. awesome lyrics though. out of the 11 tracks i'd say about 7 of them are keepers, the rest are throw aways. now that i think about it, this shit sounds like finch who i hate. buy this if you don't already have

thursday- anything they put out planes mistaken for stars- fuck with fire or knife in the marathon ink and dagger- drive this seven inch wooden stake through my philidelphia heart

all these are better.

My Chemical Romance, sound like a combination of Thursday and the Alkaline Trio. The first few songs sound more like Thursday (which isn't a surprise, b/c Geoff Rickley produced the album), but as the CD progresses it developes more of an indie rock sound; and a sound all their own. I first I didn't see what all the hype was about, but on the second listen I found myself enjoying it a whole lot more. "Vampires Will Never Hurt You," is probably the best song on the CD. The whispering at the end of the song, makes it so strong. "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville," is another good song. It's the slowest on the album and it swells with emotion. I like them a lot, a lot more then Thursday; it's just easier to get into the songs. Besides the excellent lyrics, I love how they play a more (pop)punk style of music; than metallic. MCR have a youthful sound, and will only get better on upcoming releases. Very good CD, worth picking up to see what the hypes about. Pick it up before they sign with a bigger label and everbodies listening to them. They're opening for The Used, Finch and the Movielife in Feb., so it might be too late. I hope they become big.

1/5/2003 by Sandra from Prince Frederick, MD Rating:
One of the best new bands out right now. They take the whole "emocore" "indie-rock" thing a step further with their sound. I would agree that they sound like a more agressive thursday but someone said they sounded like the beutiful mistake, and they don't. Just a realy honest, intense band with great lyrics and musicianship. my favorite songs are "vampires will never hurt you", "drowning lessons" and "this is the best day ever" i can't wait to see them live with finch and the used on feb.4th!
