I bought this being a fairly new indie rock fan. I've heard 1 or 2 songs from Braid and only 1 song from this band before buying this and I have to say someone who is not open-minded will listen to this CD once and never again. The rhythms of the songs and everything are so awkward at times but for some reason it works if you give it a chance. This thing definately has to take some time to grow on you then you begin to notice little things in the songs that you're like "Whoa, that sounds cool!". Thing I like most about this CD is the drumming, so fucking talented. Seriously, guitar also, but the drums just stand out as being phenomenal. I wish I could give this a 3.5 because it's not quite a 4 for me but I'm forgiving. Buy this if your willing to give it a chance and you like hearing really talented musicians have fun and play some rocking songs!

Hey Mercedes rocks my socks, I love this cd. My favorite song is A-List Actress. Go buy it. Because of the fact that someone stole all of my cd's, this is not in my cd player right now.

this cd is some of the best indie rock out right now. driving guitars rhythms, dark vocals, and syncopated percussion mark this full-length, and they have invented their own distinct sound. great cd.

This CD was great. Not quite the emotional greatness of Braid, but it is still a good albumn. It holds the record for longest time spent in my car by any CD in my collection. I never seem to get tired of it. "Que Shiraz" is a fabulous tune, it was even better when I thought he was saying "Cake, Hoorahh!", oh well, it is still great. Buy this and you will feel good about yourself.

I love this cd!!! Every track is catchy and full of emotion. It also maintains similar stlyes of Braid also. The first week I got this cd, I was playing it in my car and the stereo broke, trapping my disc in there. When I got it out two weeks later, I must have listened to this damn album over a hundred times!!! I had forgotten how good of a cd it was. Buy this!!!

WOW!! - that was my first reaction to this album. i had seen Hey Mercedes live w/Saves The Day, and heard "every turn" and "11 to your 7" and was hooked. i expected at the very least an album that id keep in my cd player for a few days. man was i surprised. i have listened to it all at least 10 times. its one of those rare albums that you can listen to the whole thing without skipping a single track. the guitar interplay and off-norm drum beats give HM a sound of their own. as a bass player, my only complaint would be: "turn up the rockin bass!" but anyway, buy this! i love it therefore it is great rockin emocore/indie music!
