Excellently packaged discography from one of the defining emo bands of the '90s San Diego scene. In short doses, the music is great, but listening the whole way through can wear on you. Very enjoyable, though, and a truly cathartic listening experience overall.

This CD is great dude. It takes you a while to get used to the crappy recordings, but other than that it rocks. The songs sound alike for a while, but that's because the recording is really crappy, you just have to really listen to every song. Anyway, buy this, it kicks ass.

Okay... I'm a fucking moron. While I do (don't get me wrong) love this cd, it is nothing like I suspected it to sound like. You know everyone is saying how this is the uber emo album and that bulshit and what not. And then the name is Heroin too, so I was like "man this has got to be some slow shit!" I guess I was kinda wrong... but anyways, this is some good hardcore music, it's got some interesting guitar work and it isn't slow mutha fucka! Like my buddy would say "cop dis shit nuggah!"

12/2/2005 by Steve from Pittsburgh, PA Rating:
Heroin is the original Gravity band. The label was started by someone in Heroin and it's probably the most influential label for releasing screamo bands. Level Plane, Three One G, and all of those types of labels are pretty much a branch off of what Gravity was doing. As for Heroin's music, it's pretty good stuff, but it didn't knock me out like when I first heard Angel Hair's Pregnant With The Senior Class. Most Heroin fans will tell you Angel Hair is a weaker version of Heroin, but to me they sound nothing alike. I would have to say Heroin was definately the first true screamo band and they deserve respect, but I think bands like Angel Hair, Saetia, Neil Perry, and Yaphet Kotto took that sound and made it more interesting.

10/31/2004 by Mike from Springfield, IL Rating:
One of the defining bands of hardcore emo and Gravity Records, these guys created some of the msot chaotic music ever in the genre. The mixture of punk and metal influenced bands from Mohinder to the Swing Kids. The lyrics are great, never once giving in to exaggeration or melodrama in a genre that at times seems to do nothing but. Amazing!!

4/28/2004 by Nik from Manchester, NH Rating:
Whew, this record is a doozy. I'm 100% certain that I like it, but I have a sneaking suspicion this is gonna be one of those albums that unfurls slowly over the course of repeat listens. Nothing about this music reveals itself too easily, and that's the beauty of it-- you might hate it the first time you hear it, but then it might just all fall into place perfectly on the 57th spin. All in all, I'd definately label this album a triumph for Heroin. It would've been kinda nice if the CD hadn't arrived with a totally destroyed case, though.

this album just blew me away its the best cd i have heard in along time in my opinion its the best i have great "hardcore emo" definitely worth buying

10/28/2003 by Brad from Tucson, AZ Rating:
In all honesty, I was a bit disappointed with this CD.

1. The recording absolutely sucks. 2. The songs all sound very similar, with fast chords and hard to hear vocals. 3. It lacks some intensity that I was expecting.

Regardless of all this, it's a good cd to have, I think. I'll definitely listen to it once in a while.

8/15/2003 by James from Rancho Cucamonga, CA Rating:
Chaotic music with emotional screaming. Basically, if you wish you could have lived in San Diego between '90-'95, you will be all over this. This is real "emo"; bands of this era are why that word was coined. Recommended for fans of Angel Hair, Shotmaker, and Mohinder. Not for those of you who dig Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard, or Coheed & Cambria.

8/11/2003 by Scott from Homestead, PA Rating:
Essential emo album right here. Heroin started something different back in the early 90's and they still have an impact on newer bands today. The song "Has Been" will blow you away. Get this now. A great discography.
