Hours Of Operation: Discography 1991-1994 (Double)
(Braid, Hey Mercedes)

Singing in BRAID and HEY MERCEDES, Bob Nanna sang and played drums in the very influential Chicago band Friction. The band, made up of Bob Nanna, Scott Broadhurst (bass) and Andy Knudsen (guitar), was part of the early ‘90s Chicago indie/emo/punk scene. After some searching, we’ve managed to come up with every song that Friction recorded, whether released or not. All 32 tracks have been completely remastered onto 2 CDs and repackaged extensively: including tons of photographs, all the lyrics, and complete liner notes. Included on the discs are the band’s one LP: the long out-of-print “Blurred In Six”, all the 7”s and compilation tracks, as well as nearly a dozen tracks that were finished for a second album, but never released.

| Bob Nanna of Braid's first band. I don't really know Braid, so I'm not sure why I got this. Boring, poppy punk that is slightly "emo," in the Midwestern sense. I really don't enjoy it, but if you're into the whole "post-indie emo" thing, you might. |

| This Cd actually surprised me cause it was so good and even if Friction was really just Bob Nannas first band and just local, you can hear their influence in braid, even some cuts on Frankie Welfare boy Age 5. Overall i was geniunely impressed with his drumming, the vocals, bob nanna's strange voice, and everything else kinda lacked. Best song on here is either squelch, box turtle or semiotician. Pick it up if your big on Braid or Hey mercedes |
