I should have known this was going to be their most overrated album by far. I used to own the Converge/Agoraphobic Nosebleed split cd which was cool, the "Petitioning the empty sky" album which was alright, and i've heard "You Fail Me" which i consider to be their best album. But this album is about the equivolent of a 650 mile car ride while continually chugging energy drinks and killing on the salty junkfood only to arrive at a random rest-stop dying of explosive diarrhea and you keep rushing back to the bathroom over and over while in the back of your mind you cannot resist the urge to eat heartily from the nearby vending machines. Eat from the vending machine that is "You Fail Me" or "The Poacher Diaries", not "Jane Doe".

after listening to this cd. Jes suis mort ... I am dead. Converge had always been an under the radar band for me meaning I knew about them but I never gave them a legit chance to grow on me until I got a copy of Jane Doe. Its so brutal and so amazing, it has its ups it downs its insanity and within it its sanity layer upon layer. It's really quite phenominal once you open your mind to it.

chaoscore, grindcore, hardcore, metal, you name it. Converge has don it and only keep getting better at it. This is a album that was great and still is great, recommend for many fans of hardcore.

AWESOME...although its a little late to review this cd, with "you fail me," and the re-releases out, but this cd is insane. If you're into relentless screaming that often resembles that of a hopeless man being stabbed to death, guitar, bass and drum work that seems riot inducing, then buy this cd...and later buy "you fail me," because it is just as fantastic.

Regradless of what anyone else says, this is not Converge's best release. Although, this is probably the most "essential" converge album out there. When Forever Comes Crashing is my favorite release, check out the reissue. Unloved and Weeded Out was the first Converge cd I bought, and I would recomend that or this if you're new to the band.

Ok. first off, This cd is a must own for any converge, or hardcore/grindcore fan out there. The cd is written very good with each song filled with technicallity. The vocals on this album are probably the worst part about it, but thats not saying they absolutely suck. Every song id distinctly different. By far, the 2 best songs on this album are "Concubine" and "Fault and Fracture." Jane Doe is probably THE best Converge album out right now, and one of the best albums you can find through out the hardcore/grindcore genres.
