There are lots of good songs in this album, and there are also lots of basement experiments, which I really enjoy and like. It's a good album, I'd buy it again.

Only buy this CD if you are already a good fan of Bright Eyes. DO NOT start here if you're not very familiar with the band. (Go to Fevers and Mirrors or Letting off the happpiness, or really ANY other CD is amazing). This CD, however, is a very young Conor Oberst, who at times sounds a bit annoying, but you can still listen to some of the songs. Some are nice to listen to. But honestly, if you already like their other music...buy it, because it's Bright Eyes and you'll want as many Bright Eyes songs as you can get.

I really do like this cd... some of the songs aren't so great but there are a lot that are really amazing. You can tell conor is a little younger by his voice, but its a nice change that i'm sure a lot of other people will like, like i do.

Bright eyes have improved a lot since 1995. This collection seems only good if you want to complete a collection.

Bright Eyes, as always, is very good. Some songs on here... Are... Well... Crap. I hate to say it, but they are. They have far too much use of the synthisisor... But, the few songs on here that are good make up for it! Lifted is such a better album...

to be perfectly honest i cant say anything about conor oberst that hasnt already been said. ive waited a while to write my review for this cuz i wanted it to grow on me first. "the awful sensation of escaping sweat" should have won oscars. its like an iceberg... you here and appreciate the music of a young teenage boy, and then solve the deep underlying puzzle of a grown established poet! if conors voice has never graced your ears before then give "written and recorded" a miss and pick up "fevers and mirrors" or "lifted....". just get off your ass and pick up a cd that will one day be recognised and established into a classic..... coror oberst=the holy fucking trinity!

Bad, bad, bad bright eyes. I love Bright Eyes and all but I'm sorry but I really didn't like this. I sold it the day I bought it. It's mainly all rought sounding-badly recorded acoustic material. If you are into the newer bright eyes shit than definately do not get this.
