Chinese Telephones - Chinese Telephones
Chinese Telephones debut album is the soundtrack to a sweaty house-party basement show in Any town, USA. It's got the get-up-and-go of a youth anthem fight song for the fist-pumpers, the pogo power for the pop punkers, the heartache in the slowdown for the heartsick, and the undeniable catchiness in the hooks that brings it all together for everyone to come together, sweat together and hug it out in the pit. As is usually the case with the best bands playing punk rock these days, the music played by Chinese Telephones is hard to nail down to any one style or genre. The guitar work these guys put out is killer! The rhythms are thick and chunky, and the leads and fills are super clean. Like the rhythm guitar, the bass lines are big, beefy and driving. The drum work is full of energy and enthusiasm that set the pulse high for the heart attack on its way. The lead vocals are filled with power and passion. When someone really makes the most of what he's got it comes through as more than just sound - it's felt as much as it's heard. Jeff Burke of the Marked Men contributes backing vocals on more than half of the songs on this album. The lyrics are the biggest mystery with this band, but if you listen long and hard and you'll make out the message your gut and your chest already figured out on first listen. Besides, nothing makes you wanna sing along more than when you don't know a single word! The Riverdales knew it, the Marked Men knew it, and now Chinese Telephones know it.

Coming at you from Wisconson's biggest city straight into your ears is this lovable yet punk as funk (is to the afroman) pop/garage band. Very hard to describe but Im gonna give it a shot. Mix like the Copyrights with the Marked Men and you are on the punk rock path to salvation.

I LOVED this CD. Fast, aggressive Ramones-style punk at it's best. Any fans of Screeching Weasel, The Queers, or Teenage Bottlerocket will love this band. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Tracks 8 and 9 were my favorites.

Perhaps my favorite CD I bought in 2007. Amazing songs with a fresh perspective on punk rock. This band a has realesed alot of 7 inches for a long time, i'm so happy this full length release finally came out!!! I think they finished this recording over a year ago and it's only now been released. My favorite song on here has to be "Crying at the Chapel". The CD flows very well, it almost gives you a feel of being at a live show.
