Choke - Needless to Say
Third time's a charm for the heirs apparent to the Edmonton punk throne left vacant when SNFU relocated to Vancouver. More consistent than the Give'er disc and less rushed sounding than the Lotion release, Needless to Say captures the intensity and depth of a band that just keeps on improving. Drawing from life experiences gained growing up frustrated and misunderstood in the wild wild west, the quartet rips through 13 angst-ridden anthems that gleefully defy the paramerters of modern-day pop punk. While Choke utilises the speed and harmony of their peers (10 foot pole, Propagandhi, Bodyjar), they also understand the need to break up the montony and do so with jagged, jazzy, off tempo, stuttering instrumental breaks that would leave the guys in NOMeansNO scratching their heads. A great record that will set the standard by which the rest of Canada's punk bands will be judged. - EXCLAIM MAGAZINE

My friend showed me a few songs by these guys and I loved them so I got this and "Foreward", both amazingly excellent cd's!!! Of the two albums, this is my favorite, this is also my favourite cd of all now. It's fast and technical. The drummer blows my mind and the guitar work on this record is great!!! I love the singers voice, it's very unique. There is not a bad song on here. They are the BEST band in Canada right now and will continue to be for as long as they continue to make music. They have their own style and sound untouched by any other band I know of. It reminded me of a cross between Propagandhi and Satanic Surfers except faster and with more energy. Everyone I know who has heard this album has loved it. People say that this is their best album and although I have only heard one other by them I have to agree. I can't say enough about this band, but I must because I want to go listen to it more! If you have the money, buy it, if you don't have the money, get a job, and then buy it. Stand out songs are all of them, seriously.

Just in case you haven't heard Choke before do yourself a favor and buy some of their cd's, not necesarilly this one but at least one of their cd's. This cd is good but I personally like their newer stuff. I recommend getting Choke's "Foreword" or "There's a story to this moral." Go and see them live.

These guys are awesome,My mates told me to check these guys out, so i did and ever since then have liked them all the way through, If you like other canadian punk bands like belvedere, youll like these fellas, especially if you like fast melodic stuff, this could be a cd for you, the only fault with this cd is,,,,,,the recording could be a tad clearer, but you can't really tell unless you compare it to a better sound quality cd.....buy this cd and support them
