The album sounds amazing, and is far from your typical 4/4 beat pop-punk. This is challenging stuff! The album was produced by Bill Stevenson, who has recently worked with Rise Against, The Casualties, and the upcoming album by his own band Descendents. Stevenson brought out a real rock sound from Audio Karate and you'll be sure to notice an angrier and deeper tone in this new album.

Audio Karate is a underrated band. Their first album, Space Camp, was as a whole, a pop-punk album. Laby Melody is a whole different sound. The album is harder and and softer. Art's vocals have more emotion behind them and the guitars are heavier. All and all Audio Karate deserves more credit. I still like Space Camp, but this album is a whole new different world and I suggest this release before buying Space Camp.

Sounds Like: Rufio, Foo Fighters, Silverchair

I was going into this with a open mind since all i heard was the 2 little 30 second preview clips from interpunk. I didn't really like what i heard but i decided to get this cd anyways , its a big change from space camp which is fine less pop and more angry but i must admit i was pleasently surprise its a great disc standout songs include , Ms. foreign friendly , A whole lotta wait, catch and release and the highlight of the disc is aim to please all in all a buy for fans of this band.

Jeez, what the hell happened to these guys?! It's like they suddenly grew balls and decided to rock the fuck out. You know the vast improvement Brand New made from Your New Favourite Weapon to Deja Entendu, well, this CD does the same thing for Audio Karate. There's lots of crunchy riffs, raspy vocals, and cool lyrics (check 'I won't fuck the girls I wanted to'), that made this THE punk rock album of 2004. Man, this should have been on so many 'Records of the Year' lists, I'm disappointed.

12/2/2004 by Gary from Glasgow, United Kingdom Rating:
Lady Melody is anything but a natural progression from Space Camp. While Space Camp was one of the better pop punk albums ever made, Lady Melody takes Audio Karate into their own genre.

It seems that while Arturo Barrios tried to supress his gruff scornful singing style on Space Camp, he embraces it on this record. With a mix of this very unique style of vocals and raw emotion that would make Hot Water Water blush and the thrashy yet tight guitar riffs give Audio Karate a very very distinct sound.

One thing that impressed me greatly about this record is that there are no sterotypes on it at all. By that I mean features that bands that play a certain genretend to inportrate into their music. Audio Karate have delved into their creative glory with this album and it shows in the fact that every song has a different tone and theme to it.

Audio Karate also seem to be paying tribure to their heritage on this album, the guitars at times have a tone not unlike the stylings typical of Spanish/Mexican traditional musicians, while I am just speculating that I felt it came across quite strong in songs like Hey Maria and Ms Forgein Friendly.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoyed their first album and wants to explore a deeper more intelligent side to Audio Karate, also fans of Hot Water Music and Weezer wouldn't go wrong here, don't under-rate this band, they are very technically sound, great lyrics, emotional and unique vocals, very controlling drum work and just generally very well put together. In my opinion the best album of 2004, give this a look you shouldn't be dissapointed.

wow. and i thought space camp was awesome. this completely surpassed my expectations. bill stevonson is a great producer (and a great drummer) and really brought out a heavier side of audio karate. all the songs are great. what really stood out are the vocals. its so cool how at one second hes screaming but then the next second hes singing like matt pryor. there is no filler in this cd. my fav song is aim to please but ther all great. if u take a little get up kids and a little at the drive in and throw in great music then u have audio karate. this cd kicks ass and there is no excuse for the fact that im the first person to write a review.
