It must be something in the Pacific Northwest water that makes for uncanny and unpretentious metal of righteous fashion. Fans are still cowering in the aftermath of what used to be Sleep (hail - rock on High on Fire!). However, the rising mighty that is Portland's YOB come blazing forth with a record of such gargantuan status that it will leave you a mere spec of doom ooze just waiting (more like begging) for another dose. Catharsis is the label debut from this three-piece that is sure to find its way to the hearts of doom and rock fans world-over. Vocalist/guitarist Mike Sheidt is truly a man possessed. His demon-enticed delivery on each of the album's meaty tracks single-handedly makes this a band to watch as doom's new gods. And the pleasure does not stop there.
