File Under Black
(Features Former Kid Dynamite Frontman Jason Shevchuck And Paul From Kill Your Idols)
Fat Wreck Chords 659
Released on June 3, 2003
|
After unexpectedly quitting his former band (Kid Dynamite) in 2000 to pursue schooling and a career in film, Jason Shevchuck took two steps back from the music scene. It wasn't long before (later in 2000) the once front man was hit with the itch to write music, so he and a roomie started writing/playing songs in their living room. File Under Black, None More Black's debut full length, is the end result. Hardcore ferocity, rock 'n roll breakdowns, and hooks galore, are fused with vocals that are growly and gravelly, yet deeply rooted in melody. This is an album that will have even the most jaded of punk rockers feeling like something fresh, new, and credible has been introduced to the genre!

As with anything with Jason Shevchuk this stuff is just great. Not as good as This is Satire but definately worth getting if you're a NMB fan.

Jason from Kid Dynamite is the guitarist/singer/frontman of this band. If your expecting fast and hardcore punk like KD, you're wrong, but this cd is not bad at all. It is very catchy and will have you singing along the 2nd time u listen to it!

On Garden State when Natalie Portman hands that dude from Scrubs her headphones and says this song will change your life it shouldnt have been the shins. sure the shins are great but it definetely shouldve been a kid dynamite song. If you havent heard Kid Dynamite i feel sorry for you. Go pick up both their albums and the split10'. Then once youve recovered from those you can buy this. the first 3 tracks are killer then it gets kinda boring. Still, Jason has probably the best punkrock voice ever and theres some pretty cool riffs.

Great Album, with songs that will stay in your head for weeks. Yeah, it´s that catchy. The overall sound is softer than Kid Dynamite, and by far more melodic (which at least for me is a good thing). Sure, there are a few average tracks on it, but also some instant classics (Ice cream with the enemy, Dinner´s for suckers). So, buy it already!

My name's Josh. I first heard None More Black on the Rock Against Bush Volume 1 compilation. It was by far one of my favorite tracks on there. I loved the whole raspy voice and fast punk rock guitar on that song. It was very pleasing to my ears. I decided to buy their full length, File Under Black. The first two tracks started off the record with a lot of intensity. They were awesome. Then it started to weaken a little bit track by track, but near the end it picked up again. This isn't the best album I've ever heard, but it's by far not the worst. I expected a lot from them because I based everything I knew about them off of that one track from Rock Against Bush. So yes, I was somewhat disappointed, but I still listen to it non-stop. That's a testament to how good this band is. The vocals are what makes this band a good punk rock band. If it wasn't for that, they'd be another lame mediocre band. So I say give this a shot. It is very good and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Quite possibly the best debut album ive ever heard. of course if its on fat you know its good hands. the vocals are amazing and the guitar riffs were incredible. This is already one of my favorite albums and i got it yesterday. the best songs are dinners for suckers, ice cream with the enemy. (by the way song #3 is a reference to office space and i think #10 is a reference to the second mighty ducks movie... How cool is that?)

soooo good. i love none more black. they have the style of punk rock im into, a happy medium between pop punk/skate punk and street punk/oi. im into this among many bands like this. its just very good stuff. also check out kid dynamite because there lead singer sang in that band, if you like kd than listen to paint it black, some members from kd are also in that
