Bones Brigade - I Hate Myself When I'm Not Skateboarding
Bones Brigade

I Hate Myself When I'm Not Skateboarding

Fight Fire With Fire 4

Released on June 10, 2003

Sorry, but this item is no longer available

They were four bored kids, two of them caught in the monotony of the typical post-teen 9 to 5 grind, the other two lost in a sea of irrelevant and seemingly pointless college classes. For these kids, their only release was skateboarding and hardcore. In 2002, Andrew, Blake, Phill and Mullet combined their two saving graces and formed BONES BRIGADE, the latest punk rock sensation from the mecca of hardcore, Boston MA. Part American Nightmare, part Suicidal Tendencies, this band crosses all boundaries with their fast and furious skate-core anthems. Although their music is as extreme as the sport they enthuse, their songs retain a catchiness and accessibility that has crowds singing and stagediving along in multitudes. Simply put, BONES BRIGADE has an emotional impact that the everyday kid with frustrations and a skateboard can relate to. So fuck school, fuck work, fuck the world – grab your deck and put the "rad" back into your life with BONES BRIGADE.

A in-your-face record filled with fast thrash/hardcore. Most lyrics are about skateboarding... think they are straightedge, but instead of nagging about not drinking, they just sing about skating! Nice.

this is my new favorite cd. the lyrics rule, the music rules, the guys in the band rule, this shit is just insane. this album makes me just want to tear it up and shred all day long. this cd is just f-cking killer. 10 STARS!

11/25/2004 by Daniel from Merion, PA Rating:
A killer album, totally worth buying. Hard thrashing, tough-ass vocals, good lyrics. Skate or Die is my presonal favorite, but I also like Thrashin USA, Adult Crash, Each Waking Hour and Hands Off. All the songs are good, and get you totally hyped.

9/10/2004 by Shawn from Spring, TX Rating:
Skatin' and Thrashin' sums up this record. From the first song I was completely drawn into there fast style of skate hardcore/thrash. One of the more cooler Minor Threat covers is on this record as well. All the songs completely rip on this one. I missed their show here because the guitarist was in a skating accident, what a more better reason to cancell show versus what most bands say these days. Totally amazing band and record that will floor you.

This is excellent 80's style skatecore with a touch of crossover on the guitar work. The songs are about skateboarding (duh!). I think this features the vocalist from the excellent Cut The Shit. Pointless Minor Threat cover at the end but nobody's perfect.

11/10/2003 by Ronald from Duncanville, TX Rating:
First off, I'm "Old School" by way of being there. So I have to admit that the name "Bones Brigade" prevented me from buying this for a while, even though the MP3 sounded good. The Powell/Peralta name sake just didn't conjur up the idea of a good punk band. Man, was I wrong!!! This is some ripping hardcore punk! The guitar work reminds me of early Suicidal Tendencies (which is a good metal approach) but the attack is purely old-school hardcore. Reminds me of the straight edge bands I was so into as a teen (Minor Threat, Uniform Choice, DYS) but very little of the "holier than thou" attitude that often goes with that style. Lotsa songs about Skateboarding! And from a guy that been skating since the 70's...Thats rad!! Fast hardcore with heavy breakdowns, and vocals I can understand! AAAAAAAA+++++++++

Great name, great title, great artwork, great production and great music. That sums up this CD pretty well. Fast and furious hardcore punk the way it should be, kind of like a mix between Void and early Suicidal Tendencies (especially the guitar solos), but done with a fresh and exciting spirit. Definitely one of the best bands I have heard in the last couple of years. Their version of "No reason" by Minor Threat is well done, but doesn't add much to the original (but hey how can you expect someone to top that?). Buy it, grab your deck and go skating, otherwise you'll hate yourself!!!
