So far I've been happy with the mystery LP packs. I'm awaiting my third one

So far I've gotten

The Shields - ST one sided LP just some fun punk rock. I've never heard of them before but I enjoyed it

Malcolm Bauld - Covered In Rust. I originally bought this LP jn 2009 but lost it. It's great folk music

Everything Falls Apart - ST Compilation of all their singles. Great Buffalo NY hardcore really enjoyed this one.

Halebopp Astronauts - ST. Great 3 chord punk rock from California

Burndowns - ST. Unfortunately this LP is unplayable as it sounds like shit and the download card is no longer active. It seems to be an error at the pressing plant

Disturbance - Shades Of Fear. Great punk band from NL.

So, I didn't really know what to expect, but I'm not really disappointed at all (for the most part). I open up the box and the first one is:

Murderess - The Gate (EP, black)

This is a pretty great, dark thrash EP. The cover art made me excited to see it. This record is precisely why I ordered random Lp's in the first place. Listened to this the most.

The second is Maladie - S/T (EP, black)

While the cover art is mellow and calm looking (looks like some Neutral Milk Hotel bullshit) don't let that deceive you, since this is one killer Mexican Hardcore album. Though my Spanish is rusty (to say the absolute most) I enjoyed every second of this album. It's fast, loud and powerful. And the lyrics sheet is translated to English ;)

This last one I was very disappointed in. "Cashing In On Christmas, Vol. 3" (COMP, "Candy Cane" splatter). This had to be a joke or something. A christmas comp in January? I was kind of mad but, what can I say? It's 3 RANDOM LP's I payed for. The other 2 alone were definitely worth it. Might buy this again! Opened me up to 2 new, very awesome bands.

I'll share my thoughts on the LPs I got (all black vinyl) in the order I listened to them:

Souvenir's Young America - September Songs

I love it: it's an EP of melancholy, multi-layered instrumental post-rock in the vein of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. They use a variety of instruments (including guitars, synthesizer, drums and harmonica) for a somber, movie score-like sound that's right up my alley. It's a shame that it apparently wasn't that popular: I'd have definitely paid full-price for it if I knew about it.

mOck - mOck

I'd describe this album as indie/alternative rock that incorporates technical elements to keep things interesting: mellow math rock, I guess, with puzzling lyrics to boot. I'm not much into technical stuff anymore, but this was a pretty nice listen.

Strike First - Gospels For The Deceived

A blazing hardcore punk/metal crossover album. It's great if you're into that sort of thing, but I dunno: it doesn't do anything for me personally.

Had no idea what to expect from this; have had mystery boxes from Bridge Nine and No Idea Records in the past with varying results. These 3 LPs were really interesting. Not sure I would have picked them out for myself, but for the money they were well worth it.

Can't believe everyone isn't disclosing there mystery LP's.

-Thrash of the Titans 2; marble grey colored vinyl, various thrash metal & hardcore groups. Not something I'd normally buy, but it was pretty cool. Put it on for my two year old and we had a blast bouncing off the walls. I'd listen to it again.

-What Hands are For; marble teal colored vinyl, not terrible but not my type of music. Post 2005 Warp Tour rock, if that makes since. Young kids in this band. In the liner notes each member individually thanks their parents for all their support, Awww.

-Killed by the Bull; awesome transparent red colored vinyl splattered with black & white, folk/punk rock, never heard of this band before and I liked it enough to already have played the album a few times, so that alone was worth the ten bucks.

I'm curious to know what everyone else got, hopefully a few others will reveal their mystery items.
