Portsmouth NH for many years had been a thriving punk, hardcore and rock n roll scene spawning many historic bands and legends
including hometown heroes The Queers, Tunnel Rats, Wimpy Rutherford, The Connection, and pop punk stalwarts The Guts. After
countless tours, numerous releases, and many a night backing members of said Queers, Wimpy, and Ben Weasel, The Guts had
disbanded with their friendships intact. Lead vocalist, bassist, and world renowned pop punk hero Nate Doyle rolled up the sleeves that
he always wore his heart on, with a new guitar, attitude, and slew of pop punk anthems in hand.
Spending a few years traveling from New Hampshire to Los Angeles in search of rock n roll fantasies, Nate found himself back in Boston
with one thing on his mind, killer songs, hooks, anthems, heart still on sleeve and a new band to boot in ZipGun Bomber...
In the practice spaces of Allston, Massachusetts, Nate
Doyle, Jake Gardner, and Steve Benson formed ZipGun
Bomber in late 2011. They just wanted to write good
songs and play shows. So they got to work quickly and
readied a handful of songs for the studio. They teamed
up with Dean Baltulonis (The Bouncing Souls, The
Hold Steady, The Gay Blades) at the new site of his
studio The Wild Arctic in Portsmouth, NH to record 5
songs. The tracks were then mixed and mastered by
Justin Perkins (Screeching Weasel, Dr. Frank) at The
Mystery Room in Milwaukee, WI. The result is what we
have here today..The Paper Airplanes EP. Five songs
straight from the heart. Now that they’re ready, they
slowly but surely are trying to let Boston and anyone
else know that they are here and ready to
have a good time.
