Since their breakout Fat Wreck release They Came From the Shadows in 2009, TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET have been on a relentless (and successful) mission to bring their frenzied and fun-filled brand of music to the masses. From Adelaide to Zurich, TBR have amassed an army of zealous devotees and are now ready to deliver their latest pop punk manifesto, Freak Out! Right out of the gate the punch of the title track serves notice that the BOTTLEROCKET guys aren’t fucking around. All 14 tracks sustain such a balls-out level of energy it’s impossible to sit still while listening. From the hallmark breakneck down strumming and fleet rhythms on songs like “Headbanger”, “In the Pit”, and “Who Killed Sensei?” to the heavy throttling chorus on “Cruising for Chicks”, Freak Out! never stops to take a breath. Even the mid tempo songs seem fast! Add to this TBR’s uncanny ability to craft mesmerizing melodies, highlighted by Kody’s impossibly high harmonies, and what you have is a pop punk masterpiece. Often drawing comparisons to the legendary Ramones, TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET are certainly the modern flag bearers of the classic sound. Yet, on tracks like “Go With the Flow” and “Never Gonna Tell You” they manage to stretch the narrow boundaries of the three chord structure, while maintaining the authenticity of the genre. Freak Out! delivers the fun, fast, catchy punk rock that TBR have built their reputation on, with the perfect amount of unexpected thrills to keep you pogoing for a long time to come.

wow! so 3 of these tracks are previously released. and 9 out of the other 11 are just horrible. i love this band, and it pains me to honestly review this. i guess fat mike was demanding something new to release from these guys and they had 2 days to write this.all around waste of time/money. pick up warning device instead.

9/16/2012 by Ian from Philadelphia, PA Rating:
TBR has a winning formula and they stick to it again on this album. Although overall I wouldn't say it's better than They Came from the Shadows or Warning Device, it's still worth checking out. Lots of Lillingtons come out and that's always a treat too. Stand out track to me is Neocromicon.

7/18/2012 by Chris from Novato, CA Rating:
I've never liked Teenage Bottlerocket as much as fans of their style of punk but always like checking out their material. I think this may be the album that turns me into a fan. The two vocalists coordinate much better and it seems a bit more angry than previous efforts. I'm sure past TB fans will love this.

7/6/2012 by Joseph from Runnemede, NJ Rating:
Teenage Bottlerocket deliver the goods again. This collection is much better balanced between the two songwriters and there is better interaction between the two vocalists as evidenced on tracks like "Never Gonna Tell You," where Kody's backing vocals counter Ray's lead vocals and on "Headbanger" where Ray's backing vocals counter Kody's lead. This album carries on the Lillington's tradition of horror-themed songs, as in songs like "Necrocomicon" based on the book of the dead from the cult classic film "The Evil Dead." Joey Ramone would be proud!
