Less Than Jake - TV/EP
Spanning from the vintage adverts of yesteryear to the frenetic promos of modern day, TV/EP reimagines a world where pop punk and ska is the music de rigueur, and this is the soundtrack to your couch potato life. Tracklisted as anonymously numbered channels (the band is keeping the names of the songs under wraps till right before release), the experience they have planned is akin to the feeling of flipping random television channels.

Uhhhhh, it's ok. It's an EP with TV songs, some of which are good and others that are quizzical as to why they were chosen. It's a cool idea by LTJ, but I was hoping for more. And maybe it's too much to ask, but I was hoping for more tracks too. LTJ fans, you should pick it up at some point in your collecting, but it doesn't have to be at the top of your list.

A fun CD of random TV theme and ad jingle covers. LTJ really did a good job of fitting the songs to their style, and it's a thrill to hear all the tracks blindly in succession for the first time. Unfortunately, unless you're extremely passionate about their picks, it's going to get old once you listen to it more and the excitement wears off. I guess setting a CD player to random can help, but with 16 tracks clocking at eleven-and-a-half minutes, it's still pretty brief. It's a very cool concept overall, and I'd love for them to maybe do a marathon album of covers for 40 or more minutes - that would be awesome, and certainly add to the re-listen value.
