Damned

So, Who's Paranoid?

English Channel 13

Released on November 11, 2008

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The new album from punk legends The Damned asks, "So, Who's Paranoid?" Certainly not The Damned, who have conjured here yet another collection of genre-defying songs which effortlessly sits alongside their classic albums. From the catchy, jangly garage rock opener of A Nation Fit For Heroes to the lushly psychedelic closing track Dark Asteroid, The Damned masterfully affirm their legendary status. 32 years on, the heart of The Damned, David Vanian and Captain Sensible, beats stronger than ever, proving with So, Who's Paranoid?, that their trademark dark, melodic beauty, tinged with jagged satire is truly timeless.

They're older now. Just the Captain, Dave Vanian, & the guy who's been tickling the ivories for the last 10 years or so remain from earlier lineups. Or so I think. Anyway - it's the gothier version of the Damned - and it gets real slow at times. Not that that's a bad thing - they can write a fuckin' song, for sure. Gotta love the Damned - why didn't I hear about this when it came out last year? Or am I just being paranoid?

Buyer (and reader) beward: The Damned could release an album of just in-between song live banter & I'd buy it.

Finally after seven years we finally get a new band that brought us the first full length punk rock album from England "Damned Damned Damned". 'So Who's Paranoid' is a great album for the year of 2008. The songs are beautiful and have such depth. I don't think any two songs on here sound the same. Good job.
