After a seemingly infinite absence, the Midwest’s most influential band, Dillinger Four, have delivered their long-promised fourth proper full-length. The release of Civil War marks the end of an agonizing 6 year span that fans have endured since the last D4 studio album, and allays the speculations and rumors that have been bubbling just below the surface of the indie music scene for the past few years. | Oh my god... Where do you even begin? Civil War was the punk equivalent of GNR's Chinese Democracy album; forever in the making, rumored to be near completion, and performed by assholes. But unlike Chinese Democracy, it didn't make you want to fill puppies with autistic babies and then kick them to death... Well, at least not in a bad way. The best D4 album to date. |

| YES! The day has finally come and the new Dillinger Four CD is here! It has everything you would want from a good D4 album. Easily my favorite album that's come out of 2008 so far. Now it reminds me a bit of "Verses God" because Paddy only sings 3 songs and Erick sings most of the jams. That's ok. Eric Funk recently said in an interview that D4 is going to release an EP in early 2009 that will have more Paddy songs on it. And speaking of Paddy I would have to say that "Fruity Pebbles" is my favorite song on the album... although "Parishiltonisametaphor" and "Gainsville" are also contenders too. What are you waiting for? Get this now! |

| Possibly the best D4 album to date. It took me about 2 or 3 listens to really start to like it, but now I think it's an absolutely incredible album. All of the tracks are sick, minus Fruity Pebbles. A must have for all fans of D4 |

| It's a new D4 album, so you can't go wrong with picking this fucker up. It's not my favorite but it's still one of the best albums I've gotten this year. |

| 6 years waiting for this, I can't help but feel mild disappointment. The sound is way more polished than previous D4 albums, which sucks the energy out of the music.
It's pretty middle of the road for D4 (which automatically makes it more enjoyable than most punk albums of late). Going back and listening to Midwestern Songs of the Americas, however, just shows me how much better it could have been. |

| This album is super sick. I don't remember liking the last one that much, but this is fantastic. I listened to it like four times in a row after I opened it. This time around they really got the unique sounds of their vocalists to play off each other perfectly. Harmonies are great, guitar is great, lyrics are very clever. What else do you need to know? Buy it. And get a t-shirt too. |

| What can I say about the new Dillinger Four? It has the same amazing lyrics, guitar work, and thundering basslines..
I'll admit, I never thought this would be released. Ever since the band taunted fans with an October 2006 release, another 2 years wasn't what I expected. Still, I'm not disappointed in the least. Dillinger Four have stayed consistently great over the years and this album is just another milestone added to their already sterling reputation as one of the greatest punk bands ever formed.
This is no "Situationist Comedy" though, it's completely different, but still fits the mold perfectly. Although I really like their fast songs more, the slow ones are just as good, making for an overall amazing album. Pick it up if you haven't already. I can safely say that The Swingin' Utters and Dillinger Four are the greatest bands on Fat Wreck's roster. Let's just hope we won't have to wait another 6 years for their next CD, I think I'd go insane. |
