The Hot Snakes are a more modern, compact incarnation of Drive Like Jehu, and at times they sacrifice their early eccentricities to get their listener through to the next song. Tempos rarely break from the revved up opening rush of "Braintrust", but when they do slow down, they can still hold the pace. "Audit in Progress" sticks to its guns, mostly, but that shouldn't be a problem for fans of John Reis and Rick Fork. It certainly proves they have plenty of energy left, and are in good company with their fellow associates, Messrs. Wood and Rubalcaba.

This cd is like a whippet high. It's fast, fun, but not very redeeming. While this band contains two members of the great Drive Like Jehu, the band stays closer to guitarist John Reis's band Rocket from the Crypt, sans horn section. This is pretty abrasive rock & roll with Froberg's high pitched singing/screaming. The songs are short and repetitive as hell but at the same time are extremely catchy and fun. The new drummer is extremely clean and driving. Basically, when I'm listening to this cd, it's a great time, but as soon as it's over, I have no recollection of anything I really listened to. So I just have to listen to it again.

somewhat more uptempo than Suicide Invoice, but the songwriting isnt quite up to par. not to say this is a bad record(it's definitely not), but Suicide Invoice was a little stronger.
