Saves the Day took emo as far as an eardrum could tolerate it. They've been in every little nook and cranny, and they keep churning out solid music. A hats off round of applause to these guys. Don't stop what you're doing. It's amazing and you're desperately needed in the music scene!!

Through all the years, Saves the Day has managed to keep a wonderful and still changing sound. This record is a perfect example of their talent to do so!

this cd pretty much spans all of std's career. it's a great collection of all their rare and b sides songs...it's only missing their 2 besides from the new in reverie cd. anyway a must for any fan of saves the day...

Being an album of pre-released songs, i thought it was already going to be a disappointment before i got it. Saves the day is hands down my favorite band, but i hate it when bands do cds like this. Ups and Downs is great, Sell My Old Clothes... is great, but it kind of falls apart after that. The live recording of Jesse is cool though. So, only buy this CD if you really love STD. go buy all their other albums first.

Brilliant... Sometimes you get bands who's b-sides are pretty ordinary but STD's songs are really really good. i'm a huge fan of their old stuff and its interesting to hear some of the songs that they wrote before the incredible 'can't slow down' album... but it has songs from the whole space of their career.. a MUST for any STD fan!

Ups and Downs. What an apt name for this CD. The first few tracks, perhaps even extending to "The Art of Misplacing Firearms," are all excellent outakes and B-sides from the "Stay What You Are" and "Through Being Cool" sessions. After that, the disc becomes essentially worthless. Sloppy recordings of a band capricously striving to attain a style and name for themselves are dissonant and far from the catchy Saves the Day music we know and love. I wouldn't neccessarily say it's worth getting; perhaps hardcore STD fans should pick this up. I'm into them, yet not enough to warrent this purchase. If you can, get your hands on "Ups and Downs," "Sell My Old Clothes," and "A Drag in D Flat," as these are the standouts on the album. Spend your cash on "Stay What You Are" instead.

After listening to this cd once i was somewhat dissapointed. You'd think that 19 tracks would take a long time to listen to but its actually pretty short. I liked the first two tracks because they were the genre of the classic indie-style saves the day, but as the cd progressive the singing is different and the music veers more towards punk rock than emo/indie. There singer chris has a high voice and thats kinda what makes std unique so without that their cd is something you can buy off a garage band. the last track (the live song) was pretty swank. maybe it will grow me. hopefully.
