Following their acclaimed fourth album, "Insomniac Doze", Japan's Envy return with this face-melting four-song EP. Though acting as a stop-gap between "Insomniac Doze" and their eagerly anticipated next full-length, "Abyssal" sounds more like the missing link between the driving, cacophonous force of their breakthrough third album, "A Dead Sinking Story" and the lush, cinematic tones of "Insomniac Doze". "Think about the loudest band with the most impassioned vocalist you've ever listened to, then multiply it by somewhere around 50. Congratulations; your mind is now prepared to absorb the awesomeness that is Envy" - Alternative Press.

Envy was the first time I ever felt enveloped by a song, completley surrounded and swimming in the music. There are so many little intracacies (sp?) in their songs that new sounds new tinges new parts will become aparant after multiple lisenings. This might be a shorter CD but it certainly feels complete and staggering to listen to.
