Big D and The Kids Table - Strictly Rude (Double)
Big D and The Kids Table

Strictly Rude (Double)

Silver Sprocket SILVER002

Released on August 21, 2007

Sorry, but this item is no longer available

**This is the limited edition vinyl for the blockbuster album on Side One Dummy Records.** "Strictly Rude" is the product of a focused and hardworking band confident in their ability to lead ska's next resurgence. From the catchy opener "Steady Riot", a song reminiscent of "...And Out Come The Wolves"-era Rancid, to the ominous minor-key creepiness of "Snake Bite", to the slower, sunny "Shining On", which wouldn't sound out of place on a Lily Allen record, you get the idea that this might just be the record that ska needs - an album that's as sophisticated as it is pleasing, as adventurous as it is fun. Most importantly, it's a deeply candid album that was shaped by and incalculable amount of effort, energy, thought and love. "Strictly Rude" was produced by Mighty Mighty Bosstones' bassist and fellow Bostonian Joe Gittleman.

This is one of the best albums ever put out by Big D and the Kids Table. One of the best parts is the fact that is has a song that the CD doesn't have and it is a great song. For any ska fans this is a must have album.

3/29/2009 by Andy from North Syracuse, NY Rating:
This album is awesome! every single song on it is nearly perfect. The vinyl cut sounds fantastic as well. The record is a limited run of 1000 copies, one record is black, and the other is a beautiful cream color. This has to be one of the best ska records i have ever heard. Its in heavy rotation on my turntable. Big D have matured a little with there sound, but they haven't lost a thing. Grab this now! before its gone.

2/21/2008 by Michael from San Antonio, TX Rating:
Awesome record!!! probably one of the best ska records in the past few years. Big D had matured so much since "Good Luck". They have really set themselves apart from the cliche cookie-cutter mold of 3rd wave ska.

now some will complain this is not like their previous records but with a title like "Strictly Rude" what do you expect? they have moved on from the struggles of "How It Goes" and embraced the good times with friends. Songs like "Snakebite" and "She Knows Her Way" have shown how far they have come.

a near perfect album. I could never get into "Deadpan" and "Noise Complaint" gets old quick but other than that "Strictly Rude" is a real treat.

best songs are "Steady Riot", "Souped Up-Vinyl" and "The One". Don't pass up, you won't regret!

Vinyl has bonus track "Halfway Home", once a Sean Rogan song that has been redone and given a lot more. Pick up the vinyl if only for the bonus track.

there were two songs on the album i did not like but i won't mention which; you can see for yourself. but otther than that this album LP was amazing. great with diversity from fast chickachup type stuff to sloww two tone. great album.

1/8/2008 by Ryan from Bayville, NJ Rating:
This album is damn near perfect. If it wasn't for two tracks that will go unmentioned, it would have gotten a 5. I'm glad that Big D managed to mature quite nicely and pull of what I believe is one of the best ska albums of the year. If you go in to this expecting How It Goes Part Deux you will be disappointed, if you go in to it expecting a wonderful ska album then you will be very surprised. Recommended.

Features on black and one white vinyl and some pretty nice packaging, limited to 1000. Definitely worth it. Sounds great.

9/20/2007 by Edward from Philadelphia, PA Rating:
This vinyl is beautiful; it comes on double lp with the black and white ska theme. It’s also noted on the back it’s limited to 1000. Pick this up! Truly one of the best ska albums in the last couple of years. Must buy!
