As Cities Burn was forged from the remnants of several local south Louisiana bands. The band quickly became known and recognized on the Baton Rouge scene for their passionate and energetic live show. With the addition of a new drummer, the summer of 2003 saw the completed band dropping out of college indefinitely. Each traded in their jobs and time with their girlfriends for a life in a van, in order to focus on spending as much time on the road as possible.

I read somewhere that this CD sounded like Emery, Underoath, and mewithoutyou....hell no ! It sucks ! I don't wanna bash these guys because I'm sure they're nice and all but I honestly did not enjoy this CD. It has no life and it is a snooze fest from beginning to end. Should I be mad at myself for buying this CD based on a false promise or be mad at those dudes for not really rocking out ? I'll be a good sport and blame myself !

Great sophomore effort from ACB. One would think that losign your main vocalist would destroy a bands sound/following, however come now sleep is still ACB quality, for those nights or early mornings where you need something softer. Well penned lyrics and great muscianship.

Trust me, i'm a huge fan of As Cities Burn, but in all out honesty, they failed with producing a great album. This is one of those albums that you will listen to once, maybe a few times, but then it will end up at the bottom of your CD pile. Trust me, it hurts to say that, but it's the truth. 1) TJ left (lead vocalist/screamer) which scared me a lot. Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest is probably the most original and enjoyable screamo album I own, it is frequently being played in my player and iPod. A huge reason why I love that album, TJ's screams. So, I was afraid of who they would be getting to replace him. Brother Cody took over (one of the guitarists). He has a good voice, but he doens't scream at all. They completely cut out the screaming on this album, they aren't the same band! Though they still have that signature gutiar sound.

2) That leads me to the musicianship. Yes they have a signature guitar sound, but that doens't make up for the actual music here. Yes there are a few amazing songs on this album, but mostly it is just boring. Repetative. too mellow for As Cities Burn.

So, overall dissapointment. It's hard to recomend one album over another for these guys, because they are so incredibly different. if you want to hear some of, i'll recomend the best songs (in my opinion) Empire This Is It, This Is It Clouds Tides (pretty good song)

So upon first listen i wan't sure what to think of this album. i was let down i felt. the next listen changed that. this is a really good album it would be a great album if it were their first. but since it is a change for them it isn't. the vocals are so clean and pure on this album. Cody has done a good job taking over the vocals. TJ however will be missed.
