Groovie Ghoulies

99 Lives

Green Door 5007

Released on May 15, 2007

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The circus is back in town! That punk-n-roll freak sideshow known as the Groovie Ghoulies is on it's way to you. Lives is the exciting collection of 13 or so songs that capture all the elements of the Ghoulie lifestyle: art, the love of music, and Disney-esque debauchery. They party differently than most, but they have a Love to Give, and they're serving it up by the shovel full. Described by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as "the Rolling Stones as raised on 'Blitzkreig Bop,'.

I'm pretty bummed that 99 Lives is the final album from the Groovie Ghoulies for two reasons; #1: they broke up so I'll never see them live again, #2: this album could have been better.

In my opinion the production on this album is pretty terrible. Every instrument just sounds incredibly flat and it sucks a lot of energy out of these songs. It's almost as if I'm listening to the demos and not the final product. Berry'd Alive also suffered from similar poor production but I could forgive that one since it was just an EP. I haven't seen others complain about it though so maybe I just really miss Mass Giorgini's slick production?

Despite my ramblings above I think the song "99 Lives" and "DEVO" just might be two of the greatest Groovie Ghoulies songs ever made and it stinks that I'll never hear those songs live. The other songs at the beginning of the album are good. A few songs in the middle are kind of bland and drag a bit, but then the album rocks out again at the end. "You'll Come Around" is especially awesome. Overall looking at the big picture, I still think 99 Lives is a solid album worth purchasing, I just wish it didn't have to end like this.

This album is quite good, but that's to be expected. It's the Groovie Ghoulies. I don't think their is one song on this album I don't enjoy. Last album put out by this band, so if your a ghoulie fan you'll def. want to get a copy.

I'm sad about the break-up, as they were a huge part of my local scene. Thanks for all the good music and memories, Ghoulies are Go!

I am a big fan of Groovie Ghoulies, but this was disapointing. Far from "Fun in the dark" or "Monster Club", the nerve and the catchy choruses is missing. Check out their other albums instead.

Another great album from one of the best pop punk bands of all time. It fills my heart with sadness to here that they have decided to go thier seperate ways. The ghoulies kept thier unique sound from star to finsh never changing for any reason. In many ways the loss of the ghoulies is basically the end of pop punk. Thank you guys for being a huge influence on my life both as a person and musicaly. You'll never be forgotten. "Till death do us party".

First off it sucks that the Ghoulies broke up, however they did leave us with one last Halloween Treat. I never thought I would love a Ghoulies album more than "Reanimation Festival", but here it is. "99 Lives" is my favorite Groovie Ghoulies album...period! Great songs like "Devo Was Right", etc. For those of you longing for some more new Kepi/Ghoulies tunes; check out Kepi's side band THE HAINTS. They just released a new album called "Battle of Wounded Heart" that also has some Ghoulies tracks on it. Thank the Groovie Ghoulies for all the good years and for leaving us one last pogo punk masterpiece!
