In A Million Pieces
(Featuring Members Of Hot Water Music)
Epitaph
Released on September 12, 2006
|
When legendary post-punk outfit Hot Water Music called it a day in 2005, three-quarters of the band weren’t ready to roll over. Frontman/guitarist Chris Wollard, bassist Jason Black and drummer George Rebelo recruited new guitarist Todd Rockhill and formed The Draft – their debut In A Million Pieces is a victorious shout at the world. Taking time to step back from years of constant touring, The Draft dug deep to find the inspiration for 12 tracks that move beyond the legacy of Hot Water Music into new territory – from the catchy, hook-laden “Bordering” to the ska-inspired thump of “Let It Go.” With rave press from tour dates this summer that introduced The Draft to a waiting world, the band is set to build on what they have already achieved as individuals, coming together with a cathartic, defiant voice of their own.

Picking up from where Hot Water Music's "The New What Next" left off, this has everything you could hope for from 3/4's of the now defunct HWM. Post hardcore genius, nothing that imitates their style comes anywhere close & this is probably the best band on Epitaph right now. Can't wait until their Belfast gig in March. Highly recommended.

This album is pretty good. I don't understand why they just don't call this the new "Hot Water Music" album. I know a member left, but it still sounds very HWMish. Stand out tracks are "Impossible","Lozee Rose","New Eyes Open" and "Let it Go". If you were at all a Hot Water Music fan, get this album. These guys write some amazing fucking songs.

This may be 3/4 of Hot Water Music, but its 100% sweet as hell. This is a breath of fresh air from other crap that has been coming out. Every track on this cd is great. "New Eyes Open" is an amazing intro into the cd. Bordering, Impossible, Its not what I wanna do are amazing songs too. "Out of Tune" stands out as my favorite track though. Just flat out good stuff. Hot Water Music fans definately need to check this out.

I was very sad to hear that Hot Water Music wasnt going to play anymore but was glad that most of the band were going to continue as the Draft. This album satisfies my old desire for some HWM. All fans of HWM should give it a listen. I would list this in my top 15 of the year without a doubt.
