After successfully emerging from a drug treatment program, FAT’s very own mailorder guru Chicken (also the bassist of Western Addiction) had to figure out something constructive to do with his time. He began writing songs, and soon thereafter gathered up some pals and started a band called DEAD TO ME. The songs were great, and so were the guys he gathered. One of them just happened to be his cousin, while the other two (Jack and Brandon) once served time in the Army…One Man Army that is! As a full band the writing continued, bringing us to the release of their first full length Cuban Ballerina. With Jack and Chicken sharing vocal duties, there’s never a dull moment, making for a perfect album front to back. DEAD TO ME’s sound is reminiscent of a range of 80’s punk bands, from Stiff Little Fingers and The Buzzcocks, to Bay Area greats like Crimpshrine and Jawbreaker.

I like some of the songs on this album but the others are simply background noise. The singers voice is only really good in some choruse and the rest is rather annoying. And it's a shame because the music behind it is very good. A bit of a dissapointment but I still play it now and then.
