Imagine a band of southern California twenty-somethings who play a brand of rocksteady reggae and ska that sounds like nothing less than Wilson Pickett throwing a house party backed by the Meters and the Maytals. The Aggrolites self-titled debut on Hellcat records is that rare album that sounds like the real thing, all the grit and tube-warmed funkiness that you’d expect from a Studio One recording from, say, 1965. Veterans of the southern California skapunk scene, The Aggrolites appeal equally to punk kids raised on Rancid and the Clash, and reggae purists in love with the deep skank of vintage Trojan and Studio One: 19 tracks of sing-a-longs and instrumental that sound like instant classics. En route to their debut Hellcat release, The Aggrolites have put in plenty of road time across the US, Canada, and elsewhere, opening for the likes of Madness, Rancid, Flogging Molly, Hepcat, The Selecter and Ozomatli.

| A lot of soul put into this cd. Its great overall. Funky fire is an awesome opener along with many of the others. I didn't like this kind of ska/reggae when I was a goldfinger fan or say a bosstones fan, but I got an acquired taste for it and its great music once you do. Cd is a must have and I cant wait to pick up the new aggrolites cd as well. |

| From the day I heard this album, I have had a hard time not listening to it. I'm predicting that the Aggrolites are going to become pretty popular. Jesse Wagner's voice is like James Brown meets Ska/Reggae. Roger Rivas is a master on the organ, and live, he is even more amazing. These songs are very, very catchy and you'll find yourself having the songs stuck in your head for days. Perhaps the only thing they lack, if anything, is the lack of guitar usage. Even so, reggae and ska is about skanking, and they make up for it with the vocals and organ. Some songs have very few lyrics, but the instrumentals alone will make you want to get up on your feet and start dancing. Once you hear this album, you'll feel the need to see them live and you will become part of the dancing crowd. |

| I first heard the Aggrolites on Give EM the Boot 4, the song is Dirty Reggae and after hearing... I wanted more! The old soul styles of Joe Tex with Ska beats is a winning combo for me! This Self Tilted Album is great listen from starting hard with Funky Fire to going out strong with A.G.G.R.O. however, the songs are all very simple and sound very similar.. none of the tracks reach that "live" energy like on Dirty Reggae. Nevertheless... as fun as these tracks are on the disc I can only imagine the great time had at the live show. So I say listen to one Track from this disc, if you like it you'll be grooving threw EM all! |

| I am not sure what the guy under me is talking about. This album is of very high quality, which is often hard to come by. Every track is good in it's own way, and I highly recommend it. |

| An awesome record, to say the least. probably best ska/reggae record of the year. Best tracks are "Countryman Fiddle" and "Love isn't Love", though the entire record is amazing.
Singer has awesome vocals and a great band to back him up. They have another record that isn't sold on this site, at this time, called "Dirty Reggae", Not as good this record but still has hits and is something to check out.
Be sure to see this band live. An awesome experience. they play a fair amount off of both records and do covers of the Temptations "Ain't too Proud to Beg" and Beatles "Don't Let Me Down".

| this record is sick, when i first bought it i hated it but then after about 2 weeks of listening i love it, absolutely a reggae must if you like reggae music buy this record you wont be dissapointed |

| If you dig reggae, not ska, but good roots reggae then you have to get this album. I couldnt believe it was a new band when I first heard it. The sound is so tight and the music just hits your soul. Every track through this album are all good. Great cd for parties too because everyone enjoys this cd,punx, rudies, yuppies, hippies, and regular assholes like your dad will all like this cd.n unless they hate reggae of course |
