| Slackers - Peculiar |
One of the hardest things for a band to do is capture the power of live performance in the studio; but on Peculiar, their new Hellcat release , New York’s Slackers have done just that. Recording the rhythm tracks while performing live in one of their favorite venues – Ernesto’s in Sittard, Holland – The Slackers then overdubbed vocals, horns and guest spots in the studio. Combining the clarity and balance of a studio record with the spirit and fever they’ve generated live onstage across the globe; Peculiar showcases a band at the height of their powers after nearly 15 years of constant touring. With an amazing batch of new songs – alongside the familiar social and political songs, the band now offers some moving tributes to family and friends – The Slackers have made the album of their careers, one that will both satisfy and surprise their rabid fanbase. Peculiar will keep people grooving on the dance floor from Los Angeles to New York to Europe and back.

| Awesome record! The Slackers are one of the best bands out right now. Pick up the whole discography. Well worth it!
Favorites include "Peculiar" "Keep It Simple" and "Set the Girl Free"
also, check out/pick up International War Criminal, that has other versions of some of the tracks on this record. Nothing too different but they are a bit better. |

| this is their most upbeat cd yet. very politically charged lyrics about oil, gasoline, bush, other bullshit like that. theres really only 3 songs i have to skip, 86 mayo, in walked capo, rider. those are the only shit songs, the rest are unbelievable. vic ruggiero has one of the best voices around. ok one night i was in bed and i had peculiar stuck in my head and i only heard it once and that was the day i got it in the mial. thats how catchy this is. its not poppy either if you were wondering, they definately didn't sell out. |
