Versus The World started as an outgrowth of performances at The Ataris' record store, Down On Haley, in Santa Barbara between Ataris bassist Mike Davenport and three longtime fans- Donald Spence on vocals, Nick Matsuda on guitar, and Trevor Lewis from Antifreeze on drums. The First Time Kung Fu Records owner Joe Escalante saw them play at Velvet Jones (their hometown club) he signed them on the spot!!

| i checked out this album after hearing that it involves former ataris bassist, mike davenport. surprisngly, it's quite heavy and dark, a more hardcore feel, closer to finch than the ataris. the vocals are strong and the songs are solid, wheras the lyrics could be better. it's a pretty decent debut overall ... and i like the cover art and band name! |
